Worked last night, came home, cleaned up, went shopping, now relaxing and catching up on The Walking Dead. Opened a DHDC Citra Daydream (Phantasm Experimental Version) from Other Half), a juice, but really more of a lime and grapefruit zest bomb. Drinking lighter these days, but always up for a good daydream.

Goose Island Sofie is in my glass now. It's got just a touch of funk as is customary in a saison. The advertised orange peel is noticeable. Yeast is prominent in the nose and taste. I had this one last year and rated it 4.13. I'll stand by that. Nice beer.

Another day of hiking in the Black Hills. Looking at South Dakota in the distance.

It's been a few years since I last had this beer so I added it to the cart while grocery shopping on Saturday. A delicious liquid lunch after some yardwork this morning.

Batting clean-up is Resin, an IIPA from Sixpoint. This is a really nice beer. It's got the resin and pine it advertises, plus some citrus. And a malt backbone sneaks out of nowhere and shows up on the palate.

Also, @BigMike I would pay a hefty sum to have that pint glass.

Three Philosophers from Ommegang, a 10.5% Belgian quad mixed with a touch of Belgian Kriek. This is just super yummy. And Wifey thinks this is the best beer ever.

So, a little out of the norm for me to have a beer with lunch, but with no committee stuff this afternoon and no current teaching, why not?

A little asian short rib sandwich with Am cheese, dried onions, spicy Korean seaweed salad, and some fries, and a most intriguing beer from TRVE. Ostara, a 5.7% mixed culture golden ale sour (tart) with dandelions, lemongrass, and lemon peel. It's a really different beer....

    4.27/5 rDev +3.1%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25

L - Golden ale indeed, decent head, delicate lacing. But you don't buy this beer for its looks.
S - Sweet dandelion Sting video fields of gold. This is amazing. Put it in a proper glass (big), like a stemless wine glass for reds, and the dandelions explode on the nose. Give it 20 minutes, THEN you get the undercut of the lemongrass, too, and as it warms over 40-45 minutes, you'll get aromas of Earl Gray/Lemon tea as well. Fascinating.
T - A little more restrained on taste, since it's a tart ale (not super sour); but you get the citric lemon aspects in spades, and some flower notes. Fascinating golden ale mixed culture here. Very complex, very nuanced.
F - No problems on mouthfeel; fills the palate for 5.7% - one of TRVE's strengths - great carbonation, and some natural activity from the can here.
O - one of the better mixed culture tart-sour beers I've had in years. WELL DONE.

Oh! This fine beer is so light it's like wet air. Lightly sweet and crisp. Very light bodied. Someone in the brewery shouts: "Hopfen und Maltz!" and that's essentially how much goes into it...but I love it! It's in my top 5 warm weather low calorie low carb beers. It's 74 degrees F and it tastes magnificent today after a hilly 10K run.
I made a little "Now Drinking" platform for future beer pix. Scrap wood from the garagemahal.
