That Box #3 merely indicates it's had some trouble getting out of Kent, WA, which means MAYBE it's not going to @kemoarps. Literally everyone else is still in play, however (unless you are actually sending beer to yourself via the major USPS hub of western Washington, which, I suppose, could be possible).

I love this story. This deviates from the Italian theme, but fits into your story. I moved into my neighborhood of Pittsburgh back in, I dunno, 2007 or so. There was a butcher shop a few blocks away called Foster's Meats. They had the best pork in the city and also made their own sauerkraut and kielbasa. Their kielbasa was the best I'd ever had growing up in a very Polish family. It was even better than the Polish grocery store we have here that is also top notch. One day I was the only customer in there and I asked if they ever had kiszka available, Polish blood sausage for those not familiar. My grandfather would get it when I was young and got me hooked on it before I ever knew what it was. When I asked, the two owners looked at each other, then looked at me. They told me they don't advertise it because some, well, something to do with health department regulations. I trusted them though. Taking it home and frying it up immediately took me back to my youth trying it for the first time. Unfortunately, a few years later, one of the owners was found murdered in the shop. I'm not sure if they ever caught who did it. The remaining owner didn't want to carry on, and sold the business to a young butcher who had worked in some great restaurants. He even passed on the kielbasa recipe. This neighborhood's commercial space is really high rent and specialty butchers aren't in high demand, so they also closed. Every time I drive by the store front I think of those guys and their incredible products. I think it's a bank now.

The cannolis probably wouldn't travel well, but smoked kielbasa is already pretty well preserved. I'm happy to ship some polish sausage around the country.

No, #3 is near Orlando now. It left Bham, and was out of Kent 7 hours later. I seem to have misplace the receipt for #2. It might be at home.

Being of Polish descent, but a bit removed from the culture, about the only Polish food I love is kielbasa. Sadly, the PNW can cook salmon a jillion different ways, and there's plenty of ethnic foods, the foods of my landsmen are not prevalent. There is one Russian market, but, it's close but no cigar.

Growing up there were certain things that I was always exposed to in the way of Polish cuisine - kielbasa, pierogies, haluski, etc. It wasn't until I got older that I dug a little deeper on my own, and realized pierogies could be filled with something other than potato and cheese. We have a couple Polish/eastern European restaurants here now that do a lot more traditional dishes as well in addition to the more Pittsburgh Polish places.

I know for a fact that Chicago has some fantastic Polish sausages. Will also accept tamales.

There used to be some kind of Polish restaurant down in Seattle whose name escapes me, that I have heard functioned as a de-facto regional Polish cultural center. Wonder if it's still a going concern?
