    Hey folks,

I’m in the mood for some dumb, corny fun. Especially after this past year that we’ve all had.

I never thought I’d miss those dorky April Foos day brewery gags—six packs of ultrarare beer! Triple hopped non alcoholic Pliny! Here’s something we made with marshmallows and loquats... only it’s for real, jokes on you!

Anyways, here we are now. Anyone still doing these?

Someone in Cleveland was inspired by this post I'm sure. I expect no less than three breweries to produce a pierogi inspired lager in due time.

The problem is with all of the junk added to beer in the name of "innovation", it is hard to dream up anything absurd enough to be a real joke.

Why just the other day, some joker posted:
Until the !@#$ internet meme came along, I used think that the two lowest forms of humor were the song parody and the April Fools joke, but now with the internet meme there's a new, uncontested #1.:grimacing:

Hop shoots do taste like asparagus (reminds me, I saw mine coming up the other day - time to thin them out and eat 'em. Funny OTOH, last I looked no asparagus shoots have popped up yet.)

Someone is doing a pierogi pizza so why not beer? (Disclaimer: I do not in any way endorse pierogi pizza.)

OK, here's a philosophical question for all to ponder:
Is it NOT an April Fool's Joke just because it's true?

I would say YES, it is not an April Fools joke because it is true.

OK, so, you're not a believer in the "It's funny 'cause it's true" concept?

Well, I guess Stone's co-owner never said anything disparaging about "Fizzy, clear beer", did he?

There was mention of a joke: brewing with Pierogies.

Pre-pandemic there was the annual Philly Beer Week and one of the events was Pilsners & Pierogies at the Grey Lodge Pub. Below is an advertisement from 2018:

‘Get Yer fill of Pils & Pierogies’

    Thursday, June 7, all day

Grey Lodge Pub, 6235 Frankford Ave.

Free entry, beer is pay as you go

Some of the most recognizable beers on the market are pilsners: a crisp, pale lager that makes a perfect stepping stone for newbies looking to expand their palates.

That’s because, while they may be ubiquitous, “pilsners don’t have to be boring,” said Szeker, All 10 taps at Grey Lodge Pub will be pouring unique pilsners from the likes of The Brooklyn Brewery, Founders Brewing Co., Tröegs Independent Brewing, Victory Beer and Wiseacre Brewing Company. Balance out your beer with pierogies, and call it a night.

Don’t miss: The local brews. Pilsners may have originated in the Czech Republic, but Southeastern Pennsylvania is known as a pilsner heaven. Saint Benjamin Brewing Company, Sly Fox Beer, Tröegs Independent Brewing, Victory Beer and Wacker Brewing Co. are all local.”

I always enjoyed this event since I am a fan of both Pilsners and Pierogies – a powerful 1 – 2.

Unfortunately the Grey Lodge Pub closed last year (another victim of the pandemic). Hopefully some other venue will take up Pils & Pierogies for Philly Beer Week 2022.

    Na Zdrowie!

I know exactly where that is and would love to go. June 7th is my unborn child’s birthday as well though. She’ll be sure to love pierogis and Pilsner like her dad :sunglasses:
