Reds showing some signs of life in the 5th finally. Runners on the corners 1 out with Suarez up. Opening Day is up there for my favorite holiday.

Been very happy with my strength gains since picking up the weights again in November. Getting Barry Bonds as my strength coach was a great idea. Best part, he's doing it for free in exchange for a letter of reference. Oh, Barry!

Sticking with Good Monster NE DIPA from Collective Arts but will post something new with pic before movie time. Cheers.

Happy Thursday, BA. Quite blustery out today, should have had something darker

this is drinking quite nice though, so no complaints.

Be glad you can't actually see my white overweight fat ass and pup dancing around my condo when I put on Aretha. I absolutely have a fun time with it, but nobody else should see it

Anyway, Saint Arnold Spring Bock (I'll probably be at their restaurant tomorrow for fish & chips on Good Friday), and Aretha NOW! Original pressing :sunglasses:

Cruise aka Tom from New Trail. I typically prefer their doubles, but this one is solid. I'm thankful. Peace...

Reach into the basement yields this treat.
Brett, is soft, honey, sweet pineapple. All on a solid malt backdrop.
A graphic that reminds me of Arthur Dove, hope the homage speaks.

@champ103 maybe something is wrong with me but now you've piqued my curiosity. It would probably be priceless entertainment to see you and the pup dancing to Aretha

[IMG] Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup is a Blind Tasting of Battle Beers: (correctly identified 2/3 of the pairs above in the blind taste test)

    1) Firestone Walker's Lager (4.5%): An American take on a German Helles lager with mild bready and crackery flavors with hints of grassy hops.
    versus
    2) Spaten's Helles Lager (5.2%): An authentic German Helles lager with strong bready, lemon, and honey flavors.
(mislabeled these two in the blind taste test)

    3) 3 Floyd's Foggy Geezer Hazy IPA (6.8%): A combination with Warpigs brewery that has strong orange, pineapple, strawberry, and tropical fruit flavors.
    versus
    4) Lagunitas Lilttle Sumpin' Hazy (7.2%): Another unfiltered hazy IPA from Lagunitas with strong resinous orange/tangerine, mango, and sweet tropical flavors. Heavy and sweet.

    5) Castle Danger's George Hunter Stout (8.0%): A midwest stout from Minnesota that has strong chocolate and dark malt flavors of caramel, strudel, and syrup. Mildly roasty, but leans malty.
    versus
    6) Central Waters Satin Solitude Stout (7.7%): Another midwest stout from Wisconsin that has strong and creamy flavors of milk chocolate, banana pudding, and whipped cream. I've tried this one many times and never got a definite banana pudding flavor until now.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Winners:

    2) Spaten Helles Lager: This one was similar, but had stronger aromas and flavor. I guess the lesson is that you cannot argue with authentic German beer.

    3) 3 Floyd's Foggy Geezer Hazy IPA: This one was better all around, although it was a fresher beer. Better and more complex juicy flavors. Less heavy and sweet, which I often find the case with Lagunitas beers/IPAs.

    5) Castle Danger's George Hunter Stout: This one has fantastic chocolate and dark malt flavor. Rich chocolate, hints of coffee, and strong dark malts through the end.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you think Spaten Lager is a good example of German Helles?
Do you think Foggy Geezer is better than Little Sumpin Hazy?
Have you also found that Lagunitas IPAs are often too heavy and sweet?
