Good evening, all! I'm drinking Clown Shoes Space Cake at the Lava Lounge, Waterloo, IA. I came here to try some beers from Treppenhaus Brewing, which not coincidentally is located right next door in this tiny indoor mall. Unfortunately, the only thing they have from the brewery at the moment is a cider. Fortunately, this place has a great tap list, plus quite a few bottled imports. What's in YOUR can glass tonight? Cheers!

 

Hey, so what a great IPA! Spring, from Maine Beer Company (6.5% abv)...

I shouldn't be surprised - it isn't as if MBC is incapable - they're just somewhat pricey, no? Bottled 3/16 *fresh*, has something of a "traditional" IPA taste - leans toward the pine, bitter without being a bully, mildly sweet, chewy hoppage - I'm gonna put it in the same league as Another One and Lunch - though I'd say the dankest of the three - really appreciating that dankness on the finish...

Might have another one...

Odell Solarized Yuzu DIPA. Watching Ken Burns' Jazz. Taking me a while to get through these mostly, because the narrator's voice relaxes me too much. Bird Parker is a dude I will get to know better, I had only a passing familiarity to his story

 

Well it is certainly no Pivo...which I haven't been able to find fresh here in SoCal. Any who I'd say more of a straight forward and clean style Lager, very balanced overall. Nothing too stand out but a real nice easy pounder. Perfect for hot tub time!
