What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3087

This beer was a gift from @scream. He acquired it from his son Nate, who is the head brewer at 3 Sheeps Brewing, in Sheboygan, WI. @scream gave me some bottles like this over the years, where there was an issue with the label. I don't care about the label, as long as the beer is unaffected. This beer is quite delicious! Nate viewed the threads this week that had all of the tributes to @scream. He expressed joy that his father was part of a community that truly appreciated him. Nate will likely brew a tribute beer for his father. He will likely also host a gathering at 3 Sheeps Brewing to honor @scream, probably in June. 3 Sheeps Brewing is right off of I-43, one hour north of Milwaukee, and one hour south of Green Bay. I highly recommend stopping in there if you are in the area. It is the perfect location for a mid-journey stop for people from Illinois who are traveling to their property in mini-Illinois (Door County, WI). Nate is contemplating what the tribute beer would be like, so if you have suggestions, please do share them. My suggestion of a tuna stout was rejected.

I am hopeful to attend the gathering in June, and I’m glad Nate and family have appreciated the numerous tributes this week.

Veneration is one of their many excellent beers, but I never had their Barrel Aged version. In terms of a tribute beer, perhaps an IPA similar to Voodoo Ranger would be a solid option. I know he loved Uber Joe among his favorite 3 Sheeps offerings. I’m sure whatever Nate brews will be awesome!

I also concur visiting Sheboygan, and 3Sheeps in particular, is a blast. They have a great tap room, and nice outdoor area as well that’s great in the Summer.

On to the music, 1977 is the tribute year starting at 9:00 today. Pictures of The Stranger and Out of the Blue albums are on their website post. I’ll go with one song from each.

 

This is a very nice barleywine! An important reminder for all the people of the world: Aaron Rodgers is hosting Jeopardy the next two weeks!

Meh. With the hops bill on the label, I was expecting more citrus and fruity flavors. I lost. It's certainly not undrinkable but it is disappointing. Rating 3.68, rDev -10%.

what a bb date. Remember they use day/month/year. @JackHorzempa or anybody else. Do you agree which such a large date especially for a pils in a green bottle?? But for last December I’m all in.

pours a chill hazed gold that turns crystal clear. Soapy white head is dense. Lacing is big. Smells of great marijuana, lemon and lime peel, saltines and a touch of sulfur. Just so subtle of sulfur which is not out of any ordinary circumstance with the style. Tastes is as follows. The bitter tang that reminds me of a lime peel is constant while tasting, white pretzel dough subtly underneath the big citron pith, dank weed, crabgrass even which isn’t a bad thing and a sulfuric bite. For being this dry and bitter, and it really is bitter. More so than a black coffee....I want to keep drinking. It sounds odd that you’d want to drink a beverage that makes you thirsty but they’ve done it and regardless of a green bottle I see no flaw to style in this beer. Beers like this are the reason I studied German and it’s culture. I can’t wait to share this with my father.
