Indeed! The green wax is the 2017 vintage and the purple wax is from 2019. They release those once each year after bottle conditioning. The rye barrel-aged can that I sent you is also from the 2019 release. I meant to write the years on the bottle and totally forgot. As important as Big Hop was to getting craft beer off the ground in Pittsburgh, Gratitude was one of the first to really get some hype behind it. Hope you dig them, and I hope the Tastykakes are alright. I couldn't fit both boxes into the packing box, so I decided hopefully they wouldn't get too crushed in there. With your interest in wood aged beers, I had a feeling that Gregg would be right up your alley. I'm really looking forward to more releases like that from Cinderlands.

I'll be shocked if I don't just adore the Gregg, and those Barleywines look awesome!

Still have a ton of IPAs on hand, so this afternoon I tackled a 10% monster from
    @Rub_This_BBQ :

This is, quite literally, WOOO!!, a 10% ABV NE IPA from a brewery that only does imperial beers (apparently).

Darn good stuff. Up to Tree House level? No, but that's hardly saying anything bad.

For 10%, this drinks almost too easily. Super juicy, and moderately dank. A really darn good beer.

OK. On Saturday I got a box from @FBarber , and just opened it now. I dare say our Barleywine share in May will be a success:

Revolution, 2 from their Deep Wood series: 4x12oz each of Mine Shaft gap, aged in cognac barrels and Straight Jacket aged in Bourbon barrels, and a 12oz can of Honey Jacket aged in rye and bourbon barrels. Given how much I've like the Revolution beers I've had, I'm sure they'll be a hit at the share.

4x12oz bottles of #Floyds Pillar of Beasts, made with salted caramel and aged in oak.

And a single 12oz can of Spiteful Brewings Belligerent Bob aged in in bourbon barrels.

    Damn son!!!!

As are one each of the 4-by's. That's still 108oz I'll be taking, with at least 1 more box en route, and I might have something in the cellar.

    Thanks again!

When I unpacked @Xul 's second box, this next beer excited me (and my partner!) the most:

Not because I'm super into "black pilsners," but because we both love the band Russian Circles. Seriously, this was a hell of a pick to send, Cassidy.

So in the BA database, this is listed as a Schwarzbier, and I suppose that's pretty close. It actually drinks like a very light, easy drinking, but fully flavorful porter. And when I say fully flavorful, I mean it: it's toasty, roasty, and rich, but still drinks smooth and easy.

Really darn enjoyable beer to the very last sip.

Flavor was great. Very much an English barleywine, with caramel, toffee, dried fruit like flavors. And, at.9.9%, a little boozy. Only drawback was it was a bit thin, body-wise.

I might need a Russian Circles beer myself. Love that band! Really regret missing a chance to see them and Mastodon on the same bill in Seattle 3-4yrs ago.

You have more barleywines headed your way, including a couple of more Straight Jackets and a couple of other Midwest BA barleywines (or in one case, rye wines).

That Honey Jacket is a tough get outside of Chicago.

You are gonna get all kinds of f*cked up at that share, Terry. IJS.

And another one of you on the opposite coast has a box headed your way (my target in this BIF).

And I’ve got a couple of others in this BIF in my sights. Let’s say, debts that haven’t been paid.

    Yet.

    This is particularly ominous!

Like Egon Spengler on Ghostbusters, I'm beyond the capacity for rational thought. Andrew, this is just mind-boggling! I cannot thank you enough. You'll be seeing a lot of these Stouts on NBW over the next few months. Cheers!

Box #2 won't be able to compare to the sheer volume and ABV, but hopefully you enjoy Southern food.

My partner chose to re-watch The Good Place for a 5th time instead of Schitt's Creek for a 7th time. It was a close call. :grinning:

That was my thought as well. The couple of songs I've heard didn't really do it for me, but as mentioned, I love that they all got together to try it anyway!

Same. I've had to completely cut out anything between shifts because of it... I needs my sleep! Especially when there's barely enough time between work to be able to actually get my full REM cycles as it stands.

    FUCKING PREACH.
It's absurd. Dental care is medical care, period, and that's even before getting into the very real impact that oral health has on down throughout the rest of the body.
