I tried a bourbon on the rocks with a Cape May Orange IPA Crushing It out on the deck to start my afternoon , but the dog and I were roasting :slight_frown:

so I grabbed a refreshing 15 abv Blueberry Braggot from Flying Fish and poured it in my frosted cocktail maker glass -
The dog and I have relocated back by the garage in a shaded area - world of difference -
Wow - what happened to Spring ?
I actually like the cool weather

    anyways CHEERS BA GANG !

One more 'Red' beer. I used to like V8 Spicy but switched to Clamato Picante in my old age. I think because I preferred clamato for Bloody Marys. Easier to drink than water. RED to ya!

Good afternoon BAs! Celebrating 1st dose of the vaccine today with this wit that more or less matches our sunny weather. Have to put something more substantial to celebrate the 2nd dose in 3 weeks. Cheers!

    Hey everyone.
Back earlier than I ever imagined possible.
Cheers with a little TRVE-fecta of all possible things: beer, hoodie, glass.
TRVE Black Cascade. Who said the Black IPA was dead?

Tavour sent it, I drank it...

Cycle Brewing -- Hazelnut Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout

    4.57/5 rDev +4.3%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4.5

Poured thick and sludgy; tar black in color; fairly thick yet fizzy light brown head although it quickly fades to a mere bubbly ring lining the edge of the glass while carbonation continues percolating from the dark depths; oily and murky; a think layer of fine foam coats the top of the beer once it has settled and opened up. Huge grain char smell combining elements of roasted nuts and burnt oak; Butterfinger candy. The taste mirrors the aroma; sweeter; more pronounced roasted hazel nut character; milk chocolate and fudge. Heavy body; oil slick density and feel; chewy; huge residual sugar notes; faint trace of alcohol warmth.

The beer belongs in the "wow" category of imperial stouts. It has a near evil blackness to its appearance and then the taste and aroma are just intense and alluring. Chill outdoor temperatures with a roaring hardwood fire would be a fine setting for knocking this beer back, and if that's not possible, it will put you in that mindset. A majestic and wondrous dark ale.

well...coming down to the wire...double hip replacement tomorrow AM. Until then I take solace in this nice NA beer and my equally nice smoked brisket left over from Easter. They make an excellent sandwich/beverage combo. Really looking forward to getting back to a full ABV beer and after dinner bourbon again sometime. Pre-op routine is not much fun.

Same band, same brewery, just variations of...

Saint Arnold Pub Crawl, an excellent Pale Ale and Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme.

But when you say "Dylan", he thinks your talkin' bout Dylan Thomas, whoever he was

Seapine is mostly noted for their murky brews, but I'm a fan. If you get to Seattle their spot is one of my favorites.

Best wishes for a successful surgery and recovery...

I've only had one knee replaced (and nothing else apparently needed at the moment), but allow me to highly encourage you to brush up on your colorful vocabulary and give your physical rehab regime everything you've got...that, my friend (assuming an otherwise successful surgery) is the key to getting your life back to normal (as normal as normal can be)...the will to succeed plays such a huge factor in recovery...it won't be pleasant or comfortable initially, but the long-term benefits are legion...

Mimmi, from Omnipollo, is advertised as a fruited Sour. It’s certainly fruited, but I’ve never really gotten much of the Sour aspect in the times I’ve tried it. As a drink it is exceptional. Tasty and refreshing. Despite being 7.0%, you would easily pound a sixer of these on a hot day. Cheers. [IMG]

Holla to @Pinz412 for this tasty, Krisp Kolsch from Grist House, in one of his NBS BIF boxes. A bit fuller and sweeter than I'm used to in the style, but a smooth, easy drinking, and tasty brew.

My wife and I love(d) Seattle...we spent a few great stays at the Alexis Hotel in the early 2000s...I loved their bar back in the day when you could smoke stogies and nurse fantastic bourbons and whiskeys...nowadays, I'm leery about visiting places like Seattle and Portland, OR, but hopefully we'll be back...

...a pic I took at the bar back in 2002...

No reason to be any more leery of visiting SEA or PDX than any other big city. I'm not much of a big city guy (which is why I live in a small city an hour from Vancouver and, depending on traffic and where I'm going 2 hours from SEA, and I've never been the least bit uncomfortable there. It has its problems, and it is expensive as all get out (thanks fucking Amazon!), but if you go to Denver, you can go to SEA.
