I’m going to call bull stuff on the oak tasting notes...

 

Interesting that some of the Straight Jacket was aged in Rum Barrels.

As someone that hates Rum, I'm really hoping they never release Rum Barrel aged Straight Jacket on it's own; however, if they do I will 100% buy the full allotment!

Third Year Beer

 

Sounds amazing:

The 2021 edition of Cuvée de Gráce features these incredible components:

• 11 barrels of Deth's Tar, sweet component – Fudgy, ridiculously aromatic with vanilla and marshmallow notes, and quite nearly thicker than our love for Oatmeal Stout. Every bit of this component comes from rum barrels.
• 7 barrels of Ryeway to Heaven, dry component – This exceedingly dry Ryeway provides the delicate balance and intriguing spice to complement the sweeter elements in the blend. Six of these are from bourbon barrels, and one is a rum barrel.
• 14 barrels of Straight Jacket, sweet component – This isn’t quite V.S.O.J. Not enough time on it for that. Let’s call it V.S.O.Jr. The sweet toffee and caramel notes are everything you want from an English Barleywine and more. Eight of these barrels are bourbon, and six are rum.
• 2 barrels of Thundertaker – We kept a few barrels from the 2020 Deep Wood kickoff, and we’re glad we did. The harmony between Canadian rye and chocolatey stout notes give just the right accent.
• 2 barrels of Ryeway to Heaven/Straight Jacket blend – Mostly Ryeway topped off with a bit of Barleywine to fill volume. The perfect midpoint between our Ryeway and Straight Jacket components.

 

This sounds like it will be on the sweet side and lean towards barleywine? Was last years sweet? I prefer their stouts over barleywine so may try this on draft first before purchasing.

 

Is Ryeway usually in bourbon or rye barrels?

 

Both, but sounds like only the bourbon threads were used here in the Cuvee, plus the rum.

 

I want some Madeira aged brew

 

Does anyone know if they are allowing proxies for Cuvee?

 

I believe they've allowed them for all of the DW curbside pickups so there is no reason to think otherwise.

 

Every person I've met from MN is super nice, so I'll let your question slide...LOL!
Their policy has always been proxies are allowed, and you can pick up a max of 5 orders total at one time. (so I typically pick up mine, and also 4 others)
This is especially important during these COVID times, and limiting the # of people showing up to get their beer. REV ROCKS!

 

Cigar City's Trousseau remains one of my fondest beer memories, but it was better closer to bottling than it is now.
