If it was not for the fact that Shane embedded himself so deep into the community on BA then mabey so many fans wouldn't have felt so disappointed when he just collected a paycheck and disappeared. I think I can even recall him posting on WBAYDN right along side all of us at one point. I think it would have been more classy for him to have been more transparent and possibly thank his fans who were loyal consumers. Mabey that scenario exists in some alternative time line.....

Hoping they do another tweak of the *Beans series (barrel aging, chile-ing, etc.)... everything from them now is IPA this and that

I remember Shane making that announcement about Amazing things to come, then when the news dropped about Trillium head brewer people then got really excited and started speculating. Fast forward couple years later and I am still awaiting Amazing things to come.

This exactly. He was the most involved brewer that I remember and he would even criticize breweries when they sold to big beer. Then he did it (not that ABV is big beer, but the point still stands) and straight up ghosted the site.

I actually think I'm in the minority when I say I found Shane a little too smarmy and self-confident (at least his posting style, didn't know him irl), especially considering I thought their beer started to get pretty meh around the time they ruined Bengali Tiger and made some other changes, then sold out. Haven't liked most of their stuff since 2015ish.

That said, Spritzer Bomb is absolutely awesome and I usually grab a four pack when I see it fresh. It's their Spring seasonal DIPA (collab with Sloop) and features Sauvignon Blanc grapes. So damn refreshing and dangerously-drinkable.

Yep! He even had a dispute with Brooklyn Brewing calling them out for contracting their beers, he ended up doing the same, I think the word is hypocrite ?

Their core beers are still very good. I miss the Bean series though.

For me, it was when Brownstone & Righteous Rye went by the wayside...
When they were mad fresh, they were really on.
And when they weren't, they were still pretty goddamn good.

That merger brought their beer up to being made in Parkesburg.

Ha! I pretty much gave up on Sixpoint once those Alpenflo 12 packs disappeared and that "Jammer" series made my decision final.

About six months ago, I noticed Alpenflo in sixpacks on the shelf of one my regular stops, flipped the box over (gotta say, that die-cut circle on the packaging so you can read the canning date was pretty clever) and saw that it was already eight months old, canned in January 2020 with a "Best by" date of January 2021. WTF? I don't think the other Sixpoint or ABV beers of "regular" alcohol content have that long a period.

I check it every once in a while, I remember chuckling a bit when happened to pick it up on the exact day in January it "expired". It's still there, now a couple of months past the recommended date...

Well, that's because you didn't get to see Shane's bank statement after the sale...

Does the brewery still use the app?

Yea I remember when they messed up Bengali, they called it a reformulation. Man that beer was great before that happened. Big pine needles.

Resin is way underdrank (???) in my house. It's about as solid an old school East Coaster as you can find.

Fair enough!! Honestly, that Jammer variety pack is just so refreshing in the summer that I barely consider it a beer-drinking experience. It may be the closest a brewer has come to one of the seltzer variety packs without it being seltzer!

Glad you mentioned Alpenflo. I loved that beer so much. When my favorite local shop still stocked a few Sixpoint beers (but not Alpenflo) my guy would order two cases at a time for me. At the time, I thought that was the best American made lager (Helles-ish, specifically) available.

Wow, I remember the 16x6 packs that had me start buying Sixpoint. I loved Diesel and Righteous as well as Sweet Action, when it was a cream ale. I had Bengali Tiger and posted that I had an issue with it. Shane contacted new and said he would make it right. A huge box of beer showed up along with some home brews. I was a customer from then on. I liked a lot of their beers. Most have gone extinct. Last year at this time Victory was selling $3.33 crowlers(thanks for the tip @JackHorzempa) I got to try a lot of Sixpoint beers this way and most were just ok to not something I would go back to. I picked up a semi fresh six pack of Crisp last week. Never had it before and it was ok. For $10 I enjoyed it but not one I would go back to right away. I see Resin and Bengali a lot but just never even bother.

I loved the second version of Jammer, should revisit that and Master blend is really good. Not see that since the original release.

One of my favorite beers from them that most did not like was Rad, a great shandy. Shane would not tell me the fruit mix but it was such a great flavor. If it was not beer and just juice I would have drank it.

    Enjoy

Was unaware of the buyout...but have been longtime Crisp drinker and the last two six points I purchased did not taste the same, seemed to be slightly different recipe, sweeter and less carbonated. Used to enjoy drinking those with Pivo Pils and Prima Pils and trying decided which I liked most that day. Guess just a two horse race now
