Love at Midnight is real tasty... I'm still fascinated by how the pineapple is so weird and so good at the same time.

Just dropped almost $400... and still had to show restraint.

I am surprisingly more excited for the Donut box than this month's BT box. Can't wait for it to drop.

Pretty solid reviews showing up on Untappd for these new releases.

I'm definitely interested to hear from this crowd how the base beer on Villain compares to BT and SHIT.

Also interested to hear how Not A Brownie stacks up against the original Hoarder batch.

I'm so Happy it's Thursday showed up in my cellar the other day, but it's not part of my allocations to buy.

In the email it says some Reserve members get it as an included bottle but it's super limited so they extended the Hoarder amount of time to buy them before it goes to Reserve allocations

Also - Vanilla Villian is one of the best beers I've had. Freakin delicious

I have not been buying much, and apparently have not been reading the emails very closely. Definitely thought RS was going to get a shot at 1 bottle of that one. That sounded cool. Oh well.

Still the strongest RS month this year, IMO.

Opened a bottle of not a brownie. I only had one bottle of the original, and it was not fresh, but this one seems close. Nice sweet flavor with a hint of coconut. Blends well with the base. The one thing I don’t get is walnuts. And I remember M15 so I know walnuts can come through. A nice blonde variation to all of the dessert stouts.

    Barrel Questions:
How do you decide when to add adjuncts into the barrel vs add the adjuncts after it's done aging in the barrel? What are the difference you get with flavors one way or the other (in regards to vanilla, chocolate, fruits, etc.)?

When you have a warehouse of BT barrels, how does the blending process work? Meaning, how many barrels do you blend at a time for one bottling run of BT, and how do you keep the flavor consistent for each bottling run?

Barrels get passed around so much between distilleries, breweries and wineries, how much use is too much before you no longer get much flavor from the barrel?

What constitutes a good barrel to age beer in?

Are there certain types of spirit/wine barrels who's flavors don't work well with beer?

How much of barrel aging is science vs art vs happy accidents?

    Cheers!

BT Box: I'm most excited for Cognac and most apprehensive of Scotch, but I decided to go with Sherry first tonight.

It's delightful. I'm not sure that I love it, but it's above average for a BT version and I respect the shit out of it. I'm a sherry expert in so far as I visited Spain a few years ago and ordered a couple flights of Sherry while in the south (I am not an expert). Until then, I had always incorrectly lumped Port and Sherry in my mind as interchangeable (they are not at all... unless maybe you're exclusive to Pedro Ximenez... then -ish).

My vibe on Sherry BT is that it's closest to Rum BT. It's got a lot of heat but isn't harsh, it's on the dry side, and the flavor of the rum/Sherry is very present without overwhelming and balances really well with the base BT.

Thanks for this. My box is arriving today and I think I'll begin with the Scotch. The description did say there will be a slight peatiness but the Bruery has done a good job balancing that before. Plus, I love a peaty Scotch.

I also want to make sure to try the Vanilla Villain this weekend to see if need to buy more .

@iLoveDonuts another barrel question (can't recall if someone already posted): if you're planning to age in more than one barrel, does it matter which one you do first?

Would you do the rarest barrel last simply to reduce the number of steps after that point where the beer might fail? Or are there flavor implications as well?

Tried a few of the new releases yesterday. Vanilla villain was another level. Thicker than most Bruery beers. Easy max for me. Wish I could buy more. Sans Pagaie was really good. More tart than sour with the vanilla being big. SHIT was really tasty. More complex with the scotch barrels.
