The Bruery (2021)

This is getting me excited.

I know the Anniversary Old Ale lovers lurk in the shadows but how AMAZING would it be to do a 3 variant x 4 x 375ml of Anniversary Barrel Variants in a box like this? Or better yet 6 variants x 2 x 375ml?


To me, this is the most attractive format that Bruery offers, not even close - this is it. I know I can't exactly affect Bruery packaging decisions, but I can say when I like it - and in this case I love it.

Just had another taster of the Vanilla Villian (<3) and did the BT box tasters. I was nervous for the scotch barrel as I haven't been a big fan of the scotch barrel ones and even in the I'm Glad It's Thursday, but it all of them were really good.

 

I'm a little sore about not getting a chance to taste the new "game changer" stout.

 

BT Cognac is another winner. Similar to the Sherry one in that it is BT first but with a very distinct barrel contribution. Very warm but not as hot as the Sherry. Cognac flavor a little more bold and in your face relative to the more subtle Sherry version.

I don't really "need" any more BT in my cellar, but I think if the Scotch and Madeira ones aren't below average I'll grab a second box. The price point is very reasonable, the bottle format is great, and unlike adjuncted variants I'm not too worried about letting these sit around awhile.

Speaking of which, what are people thinking about aging Villain? I know vanilla is known to drop off, so is this a "drink it this year" beer, or is anyone planning to tuck some away longer?

 

I may save a bottle but it’s drinking incredible right now. So don’t see how age could get this any better. Might keep one for a year or 2 but honestly don’t see it lasting that long.

 

I did a blind taste test of bottle Logic fundamental coordinates Indonesia and Bruery vanilla villain. Both were good but Bruery was on another level.

 

Finally got to try Furst. It's awesome! If anyone has one sitting around, drink it now. I enjoyed it a lot more than love bites and I really like love bites.

 

Nice! In order to maximize acronym performance I would change it slightly to “Whoa, Today’s Friday!”

That's what you can expect from the vanilla vaqueros.

 

I've always thought vanilla ages better/longer than a lot of other adjuncts. I maxed out and plan on having one every 9-12 months for the next 4ish years and seeing how it develops. With that said, it is amazing now and wouldn't argue with anyone drinking them all sooner rather than later either.

 

Agree with this. Vanilla tends to age nicely for years. Can’t wait to try VV

 

@iLoveDonuts do I recall you saying there's one other release coming this year using the monster/villain base? Any hints?

 

I had to go back through and thought I missed something (donut box), but nope it's just @iLoveDonuts dropping hints.

I realize I didn’t actually confirm, but yes that base will be back for another treatment. I know you want some hints but really, “there’s no wrong way” to treat this stout.
