Not sure if relevant, but: I know everyone associates PB + banana with Elvis, but Elvis wasn't really famous for loving peanut butter and banana sandwiches. He loved fried peanut butter + banana + bacon sandwiches. My understanding is that he would fry up a bunch of bacon in the skillet, then remove the bacon and fry a peanut butter and banana sandwich in the bacon fat like it was a grilled cheese sandwich. When it was done, he would open up the sandwich and lay the bacon strips inside, and then eat it. A literal heart attack on a plate. Someone needs to do a PB + banana + bacon beer sometime. That is all.

Grabbed lunch to go at More today on way into visiting family. They did a great job and everything was packaged well and traveled great for the 20 minute drive after pick up. Love their Nashville Hot and it still had some crispness to it. Also grabbed a 2 pack of Nighttide: Breakfast while waiting. Some nice beers on tap too, but no time for that today.

Henna b3 aka Cinnamon Babka on sale through Oznr at 10 AM tomorrow. With as good as the double rainbow cans were I am very excited about this one. It was my favorite of the original 3 Henna bottles from back in the bike path line days. Hope they put some in barrels!

This is the only one of the OG Henna bottles I never got to try. Really looking forward to this, hopefully I can snag some without a problem.

This is my first pass at a Henna and damn was it good. Plus, it tasted exactly like Babka that I’d make with my grandmother.

After trying the first canned Hennas with a new head brewer (S'mores and Cherry something), I was completely turned off of what More was doing with their flagship stout. Those beers were awful, and it made me not want to purchase their second attempt at Double Rainbow.

That being said, I took a chance on these Cinnamon Babka cans, and man this beer is not good. I took 3 sips of this can, and dumped the rest in the sink.

They need to rebrand these stouts if they want to continue them. Calling them Henna is a complete disservice to their batch 1 predecessors - just being subjectivity honest.

Damn. Happy I forgot about Oznr and logged in 3 min after it opened and everything was SOLD OUT. This is a shame. I had the b1 version of this and thought it was amazing. Tells you how important Head Brewers are (More, Corridor, Surly).

I couldn't agree more. Easy pass for me on Henna's now.

Anything descriptive you could add? s it too thin? Are the flavors not there? Is there something off about the stout base? Genuinely curious but all I see above is "awful and I drainpoured it". I'm curious as to the how on this.

For example the S'mores they did in cans, I didn't think it was bad, may have been a bit thinner but the chocolate / marshmallow flavor definitely didn't pop like the OG in bottles.

The Cinnamon Babka cans just had this overly-bitter taste throughout that was a complete turnoff. I didn't get any chocolate, but the taste of artificial vanilla, and cinnamon to go along with that bitterness was just not desirable in any way.

I generally don't care about the thickness of a stout, but the can I had wasn't thin by any means, it just tasted like shit.

Exactly how I felt. Those cans just tasted like a lactose overload in vanilla stout. I got no chocolate or graham cracker in those cans.

I didn’t really care for the first batch of Babka, so this one is probably not any good either.

First batch of Babka was great I thought. I haven’t picked up my b2 cans yet, but the reviews on b2 are less than good. 3.97 on Untappd!!!

Big drop off in quality after Shaun left

I think I see what you’re talking about, but I think the “bitter” flavor is just the strong roast malt flavor from the base beer showing through the flavorings.

I liked this one quite a bit, but it seemed really lightly adjuncted to me. It tasted like a RIS with just a little touch of cinnamon and sweetness. Certainly not what we’re used to seeing from More, they usually put out super sweet stouts with the flavor of the base beer covered up almost completely.

I do agree they need to give up on “Henna”. They just don’t seem to be able to get it right. While I enjoyed Babka b2, it doesn’t register as “Henna” to me. Meanwhile, they have nailed every Arketype I’ve tried so far. So they should just focus on that IMO.

BTW, when I went to enter the Curvature b8 drawing on Oznr, I noticed that More has another stout "coming soon" - a candy bar inspired stout collab with Ology for pickup starting this weekend.

I'd have to disagree on the bitterness I experienced in this Henna. I'm all for a roasty, malty, hoppy RIS, but my experience was more of an artificial, astringent bitterness that was not enjoyable in the slightest.

But hey, to each their own, and I'm glad you found it enjoyable! :beers:

Wow, that's weird, I didn't get that at all. I always wonder whether vastly different experiences like this are due to can variation or palate variation (or maybe a little of both). Maybe I should drink 50 cans of Henna to figure it out, for science. Cheers!
