Good day BAs! Off to an overcast start to the day - both weather-wise and spiritual. My son and I were scheduled to take a beer tour of Franconian Bavaria this spring which has now been cancelled (the tour, spring who knows?) so depression abounds. Oh well, today's New Breakfast Beer, courtesy of @Rub_This_BBQ and NBS BIF #13:

Really decent NEIPA - wish I could find it around here! Rating 4.13, rDev -0.5%.

Last morning at the condo...a beer from @beergoot - River North Brewery’s Anniversary 9, a whiskey barrel aged coconut imperial stout:

A darn fine stout! Like the coconut and dark chocolate. Aftertaste is mildly Moundsbar. Outstanding!

Glad you enjoyed the beer and hope it helps to brighten the day some. That trip sounds amazing and I hope next year you and your son can reschedule if/when some sort of normal returns :beers:

    Hi all Advocates!
lunch break, draft beer take away quickly (unfortunately drunk in plastic)

Birrificio Orso Verde (ITA) - TRUE - Double Dry Hopping American Double Ipa (8,5%)

    Can 33 cl.
    With brown candied sugar added.
    Never drunk before.
On the nose malty notes (biscuit) dominated later by intense woody aromas and citrus peel.
When poured, it appears amber in color, but remains clean and releases an abundant, soft and fragrant foam that never disappears completely.
In the mouth, the entrance is rather soft, without encroaching on the "excessively sweet" (there are many beers of this style that at the entrance in the mouth resemble almost a spoonful of honey ...) and a gustrative path that passes from the fruity citrus ( grapefruit, cedar, orange peel) with clear herbaceous, woody hints.
    Full and round body.
Very bitter finish (I really like this thing, but it is actually more bitter than average).
The incisiveness of the final bitterness, which remains on the tongue for a long time, is the characterizing element (together with the gustatory reflections that the hops used) of this beer and also manages to confuse the alcohol content.

Leading off today is Rosetta from Ommegang. It's a sour ale aged on cherries according to the can. According to BA, it's "a combination of Oud Bruin and Kriek, blended and aged to create a well balanced Flemish Brown Ale." Either way, it's really, really good. Full of cherry aromas and flavors. Not as much sour as expected. Still great. Wifey goes crazy for this one...."a "sip" can cost me half my beer.

Just got back from a nice walk, got a beef sammich on the way and this beer in the interim. I believe we won't be seeing this widely distributed anymore, the late purchase from last year still holding up so will savor my remaining stash the next few weeks.

Never thought I'd come across, let alone post a Tom Jones tune, but ran into this the other day, and Janice's performance was compelling.

This aired December 4, 1969, when I was in diapers.

[IMG] This can is one of two I bought to put in the BIF box, but the can was so beat up I was afraid it wouldn’t survive the trip.

So from DSSOLVR from Asheville, Billion Bear Death Stare, it’s a dry hopped Italian Pilsner. 5.1 abv, pils malt, Hallertau, Mittelefrau and Syrian Saviniski hops.

This is really a terrific Pils by any standard, a touch of what a perceive to be a touch of lemon zest. Clean, crisp on the palate, very easy drinking. I still think Red Oak Hopgarten is a better all around Pils, but this is certainly very close competition.

The second beer of the day is in the same theme as the first. Rodenbach Classic is an oak aged Belgian Sour ale. It's full of cherries and a touch of that oak. Very, very good. Those Belgians really know their way around beer.

I'm sticking with the Belgian theme, but moving from sours to a Belgian IPA. Tropical Bitch from Flying Dog is in my glass now. Yummy. Hoppy & fruity. There's orange, grapefruit and pineapple notes. I rated this 4.05 three years ago and that review stands up.

Shelby. English IPA from Thornbridge (UK). Inspired by the style of beer consumed in 1919, the time of The Peaky Blinders TV series. Never seen anything of the series myself.
The beer has a nice classic taste. Easy to imagine having a beer like this in Birmingham at that time.
    Cheers mates!
