BT Scotch is very nice! The smoky peatiness is there, but definitely not overdone at all - far more subdued than the barrel effect in Sherry and Cognac. What actually stands out for me the most is the body on this one - much more creamy than typical BT, which is a big plus for me. It's the least far removed overall from regular BT, which will likely make it rank either top or bottom of most people's lists depending on whether they are BT purists.

BT Madeira is solid but definitely my least favorite of the bunch. Good enough that I just sprung for a second box though.

I'll give BT Madeira credit in that this is a very smooth and mellow BT release. Excellent in that respect. However for my personal taste the Madeira has a sharpness (maybe the oxidation?) that I don't love. It's easy to want to compare to the various Port releases (whether fair or not) and I would easily choose any of the Port releases over this, even though it is objectively enjoyable.

Is there a way to find out what the limits are for each beer?

Like on the allocations page? Or do you mean for other levels?

When purchasing. I remember with the old site it would say "limit 3" or something along those lines. Are the limits somewhere else now?

When you go to "your account" there is a page for allocations. That shows the limits. I think you're right though that the regular "shop" and individual product pages don't show it.

Finally drank the BT party cans. I really like the size of these cans since I can drink more than one flavor beer a night. I would love to see more 10oz cans of one off BT. Especially if it happened to contain raspberry cheesecake.

I have mixed feelings about Vanilla Villain... vanilla flavor is great (BT Double Vanilla can was better though), the thicker/creamy body is a nice change from BT, but the body leaves a kind of slimy after-texture in my mouth that I'm not into.

The description doesn't mention milk sugar anywhere I've seen, but I get the vibe this has a bunch of lactose. It's that kind of sweetness and creaminess profile.

Thanks for that lack of lactose info. Follow up question, is lactose always labeled when it's an ingredient?

I was thinking more about this and was wondering if maybe the texture is actually a byproduct of the vanilla, since I assume I've never had a beer that took its vanilla this seriously.

Still excited to try the second treatment later this year!

Well it's a different base, but in general whenever I have a beer with vanilla in it it's more of a creamy fill which I enjoy. I've had ones where like you said it feels like lactose but it's the vanilla in the beer. Which I don't mind lactose but I love when that taste/feel comes from the vanilla.

That said I think I'm going to open a bottle during the virtual panel and look for the slimy feel you're talking about

Cool! Very interested to hear if you associate the texture with vanilla.

I don't think the texture is objectively bad, I just don't care for it.

Ok so disclaimer this is coming from a pretty experienced beer drinker, but wayyyy less experienced in the brewing process.

But, what I gather is that smooth creaminess is definitely the vanilla. The sticky mouthfeel is just the viscosity I believe which would come from the different base. Thiccccc af if you will. I love the chewy

I do remember this being the answer to some posts a few months back about if the Bruery would do a thicker stout.

can’t speak for everyone but we absolutely add lactose on the label when it’s incorporated. We just usually say “milk sugar”
