Got got in a downpour while walking the dogs this am...soaked to the bone...everybody’s dry and fed...coffee time:

Poured at 57°. Plenty of bitter roast. If I didn’t have so many other options, I could drink this stout on a regular basis...

It’s supposed to storm all day. I’ll stay in and drink beer ;-) Cheers y’all!

Just over an hour away from first pitch for the near annual Patriots Day Game in Boston. The Yankees were the most common opponent for this game, but they haven't played in a Patriots Day game since 2004. This will be the fifth time the Chicago White Sox will play in a Patriots' Day Game, after splitting the first four. Congratulations to workers off in Massachusetts, Maine and, wait for it, Wisconsin (WTF? - Where are Rhode Island and other New England States) where this day is recognized as a holiday.

Rooting for the White, but enjoying a Ruby beer to start the day, post the nearly daily watering of the plants and grass seedlings, hopeful many will take in this area past my porch that do not get as much sun.

There are worse ways to start your day than with MBCP, I suppose.

I do not always drink beer this early in the day, but when I do, it's usually because I'm stressed and I happen to have some good stuff in the fridge. In this case, Suarez Family's Stand To Reason smoked lager. I wish I had some smoked sausages or other meats handy to pair with this.

Morning! 24° and light snow. A couple more inches and I'm getting the X/C skis back out.
I have plenty of these stouts, so I better get after them.

Ok, it's my day off, and projects done. Time to enjoy a new beer.

Pitch black pouring, and it looks thick while pouring. There's a 2 finger brown head. The head looks like the body - thick. The retention is amazing. The head clings to the side of the glass like superglue.
The nose is full of notes from the barrel. There's so many things here I'm getting, but can't put my finger fully on. I get caramel, toffee, chocolate, raisin, plum, and a lot more.
Taste - Damn! This beer has a lot here. Caramel, toffee, chocolate, raisin, plum. I also get a gin taste here, that I do like. Then on the backside there's a very pleasing smoke flavor. This flavor isn't overpowering, but really adds to this beer.
Thick as heck. This beer really coats my throat. There's a bit heat from the ABV as well, but not too much.
Solid beer. A pleasure to try.

I'm having a Pog Champ, a kettle sour from Iron Hill. Pog stands for passionfruit, orange, guava and they all show up in the nose and flavor. It's got a nice balance between sweet and sour. Wifey found it more sour than I did. I rated it 3.67, which can't be compared to anything because it's the only review.

Still having a great mini vacation. Got some brunch at Cafe Calvin then took an amazing pic of the bud brewery on the way out. Went to the mall and now at Olentangy river for a coffee stout.

I didn't care for that last beer. Therefore, I didn't finish it. I'm not going to drink a beer just to drink a beer. While not the OG, this Stone v1.1 will do the trick. Cheers!

Belgian aloha from Olentangy. Awesome. Nice cranberry hibiscus and pear/apple yeast fruit. Some pepper and woody hop bitterness. Mild warmth of abv. Dangerously smooth. Love the style. Some tart/tang notes.

    Cheers
