What's a Platinum Beer?

It's a marketing ploy. That's all.

So it is an alleged Light Beer but at 6% ABV not really.

I honestly did not know BL Platinum was still around. I remember getting sixers of it back in college when I wanted to feel more badass

 

It’s not like they don’t have something called Bud (heavy) for that!

 

Badass in college is duct taping two 40’s of Colt 45 to your hands, not drinking BL Platinum

 

Its all about marketing. AB InBev is using the words "Bud Light" to see all sorts of beverages. You can now purchase a thing branded as Bud Light Platinum Seltzer:



This all seems crazy to me but if it sells that just goes to show how much I know.

About that. I have a kid in college. They don't really drink beer. I mean I do see beer cans on frat lawns when we visit him, but he says that where he lives it's either liquor, straight or in mixers, and seltzers.

 

What?! Everyone knows there's only one beer that is BAD ASS! And its made by the most badass white guy from an upper middle class home there is, Kid Rock!

 

Well, they can't achieve that level overnight. They have to start out as just "asses"...

 

Yeah, I have two kids in college and a senior in high school and can back that up. They're all girls, granted, but I rarely see them drink beer. Lots of "mixies" and seltzer. I hope they don't discover BL Platinum Seltzer at 8%, those will go to their heads right quick. Well, now that I think about it, my oldest does like to go to Good Nature Brewery up at school now that she's legal, so maybe's there's hope yet.

 

Kids these days.

College was such an experiment in alcohol consumption -- but it was mostly beer with some gin on the side (big MASH fan). Can't even look at gin anymore.

 

It's funny in that platinum (the metal) has been cheaper than gold since the financial crisis over a decade ago yet platinum is apparently still more "premium" from a marketing perspective than gold.

 

But if I invest in platinum will they still give me a free safe?
