OP deleted the post and never returned my messages after I said close it. So, I guess it's not even an outlier.

But not surprising. There is no accountability on Beer Advocate. If that happened on a Facebook trading group, for example, the person would be banned. Here, it doesn't matter.

And it's just beer. I'm happy drinking my Continuance. Getting great reviews.

I hear you on just beer, but I think people that pull that kind of crap, suck.

Wow!! That’s some bush league shit right there. I mean you asked for something and got it and now you backed out. Ban everything not beer but this is ok?

Exactly. At least own up to it in a private message. "Sorry, I got cold feet..." I'd give someone a little (very little) bit of credit for that, but this route, really poor form.

Anyone recall the username? I'd like to add to my DNT.

I don't think that's the way to go, so I'm not going to share the username. I just hope he drinks the BBT4, because it's a great beer too. Instead it's something Beer Advocate needs to work on: accountability.

Accountability is enforced by disclosing his username here. Helps us all know not to deal with them in the future.

That's a fair point too. How do you think we should handle it, @Todd ?

No worries. I recall the avatar. Unless he changes that and his username, I’ll remember it if/when he pops up again.

We can't read your mind. Name the user or report them if they break the rules.

Isn't a trade formalized by accepting a trade through the trading system? Agree they should have just messaged you saying they changed their mind but I thought that was the system on BA.

There was no formal agreement from what I can tell. This is how I understood how it went down: @wesmilligan replied to the unnamed OP’s thread that he could satisfy the trade and he messaged him privately. The user never responded to the messages and deleted the thread.

Maybe no big deal to some, but a lot wrong with it imo.

Like @MattOC said if he had at least pmd saying he changed his mind or “couldn’t “ do it for whatever reason that would have least be something. The OP just didn’t respond and deleted the post.

Agreed. If the unlimited time limit wasn't in place, at the very least the user could've been called out publicly within the thread.

I also moved this convo into its own thread.

If the 2 traders are talking about trading.
    • To finalize a trade.
    • One trader should say something along the lines of okay everything sound good with the trade?
    • Outline the what’s being traded. This for that.
    • (If all good) go ahead and send a trade request.
    • When the trader clicks on agree to trade request “it’s on.”
    • If they don’t click on it then it’s still up in the air, is my understanding.
I re-read what’s going on here a couple times to follow..

My understanding the trader was talking about trading, then bailed before agreeing to the trade?

If so, meh... Poor form, but eh... call it a day and on with the next trade.

    Maybe I’m missing something.. Idk..

All I know is that I’m looking forward to Continuance myself.

    Cheers

This was my reaction as well. Maybe I'm missing something here (I've had a couple of glasses of Fremont KDS spice Wars this evening), but it sounded like he simply (for what ever reason) got cold feet before deciding he wanted to pull the trigger on the trade.

That being said, as @Todd suggested, why not identify the OP so we can (perhaps) get an explanation as to what happened here.

I get what you’re saying, and your interpretation isn’t “wrong” per se, but I think many people would also consider a trade “closed” if you and I were to go back and forth, agree on terms, and you say “Okay I agree to trade X beer for your Y beer. Let’s do it,” and I agree to it. But if you/others think the trade button function is there to clear up discrepancies, I get it even if I don’t totally agree.

However, the real answer here is just to make the person in question both so that (1) they can tell their side of the story and (2) so that others can choose not to trade with them going forward if they lean towards my interpretation of “closing trades” and want to avoid them.
