To be fair to Notch, the in-close-physical-proximity but distinctly-separate-imbery-wise regions that are New England and the tristate area do have nothing to do with the finest lager producer west of the Atlantic*. But I do think it might be fair game to have a thread on the merge. (And who knows, in time perhaps we'll have a fun Yankees vs. Red Sox vs. Tree House vs. Other Half debate!)

At the end of the day it's a message board, and promoting more discussion (and more people involved in said discussion) is a good thing. Hope a dedicated thread is cool.

Can we get Quebec? Maybe there can be a state province draft for the next regional reorganization

I'll take Suarez cans over any Hill Farm offering in the style.

Now that's a great debate. Recent Mary has been just unbelievably good, I don't think I can get on board with that. I'm also a weirdo and Cabana is my favorite Suarez lager. Now 100 Ft. North vs Florence...

True story.... Massachusetts Native who went to college at UT Austin. In 2001 I was wearing a Yankees Suck T-shirt in the one of the University Quads. A girl came up to me and said that she hated them damn Yankees too. She was not a baseball fan... I will welcome my Southern People in this thread as long as they take a knee to the supremacy of New England. I realize that NYC is a world Mecca of just about everything, but Forget about that- New England is where it is at!

I'm so glad they merged these forums so I could find a fellow Cabananite. It's so good! Down with Palantine (and Mary).

Is this the place to discuss the pros and cons of the merger? That’s also what was happening in the Notch thread. Would be nice to have a place to give feed back on the merger.

I think this merger is not good. We are talking about too many people, cities, breweries etc. Stuff is going to get lost and, for one example, I don’t really care about little breweries 7 states away from me. Especially when they bury threads about things I DO care about.

I agree. Maybe they should add a way for you to get notifications when there's activity in threads you follow, perhaps an alert of some kind?

I also am very excited to welcome our pals who wait in line and don't say silly things like "on line."

That is what I was hoping for, yes. Personally I'm more on the nay side - I agree that it is probably a net negative for discussion about any non A-list breweries. At the end of the day I know it doesn't matter all that much so I'm more whatever about it than anything else I guess. I will say mrmattosgood's utter disdain for Other Half makes me laugh, at least, so if he returns maybe it's an overall win.

So now I have to search through the “regional” forum that is no longer regional AND notifications instead of just one forum? What a deal! Plus I get to deal with sarcastic, uninformed New Yorkers adding nothing to New England threads like Notch!

Someone is clearly worried about their regional pureboi crown. the reign of terroir is over.

Sarcastic, yes. Uninformed? Apparently so! I can take criticism just as well as the next person. I just assumed we could all be one big happy family, but you're totally right, this isn't a regional forum anymore because as per Wikipedia, Maryland, DC, and Delaware are not in what's defined as the northeastern United States, American Northeast, or the Northeast. Wikipedia asserts the northeastern United States as Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

What's going to happen to the Other Half thread if we have to say goodbye to our pals in DC, @Sheppard and crew? I just don't know that I'm ready for such big changes.

I hope that New York line waiting enthusiasts and New England beer advocates can find common ground.
