One sachet should be 'good' for your 3 gallon batch.

I attended a presentation on W-34/70 by a Fermentis person at the 2019 HomebrewCon and he recommended two sachets of this yeast for a 5 gallon moderate gravity lager. Having stated that I have tasted lagers brewed by a fellow homebrewer where he used just a single sachet of W-34/70 for his 5 gallon batches and those beers tasted very good - excellent.

    Cheers!

I typically use 1 packet for my usual 3.5 gal batch size.

I was setting next to @JackHorzempa at that talk.

The recommended rate was 1gram/liter. A 5 gallon batch is 19 liters. Two sachets will be 22 grams, so a slight over pitch. Your 3 gallon batch is 11.3 liters, so 1 sachet is just about right.

    That should be enough yeast.
