This is the 1st time I’ve looked at the thread. I’m thinking of just leaving this thread. Mid Atlantic was much more doable then this thread.

Granted, I only read page 1 so far, but here’s my impression of the merge thread:

New Englanders: I have ants in my pants!

New Yorkers: [Insert fart joke here]

Best not to think about the Seinfeld sitcom in real life, it falls apart quick. Like in 1990s NYC, how does Jerry play comedy shows to these small theatre audiences and afford to live without roommates in a non-studio apartment anywhere in the city? Then you figure ok it must be a rough neighborhood by scale when you know Kramer, who seemingly works random jobs for real income for about 5% of the duration of the show, lives right across the hall. But then they shoot the outdoor and neighborhood scenes and there's an awful lot of honkies out there.

And then the photo of this liquor store, with the exception of the macro brews, basically represents what the little "packy" (to steal another phrase from this thread) inside the Boston Eataly looks like. Not roughing it by any means.

Count me as one who is not a fan of this regional merger. So many new breweries coming online now, it's no longer a quick scroll to see what's new in New England. Little interest in traveling to mid-Atlantic breweries when there's plenty going on up here, especially during covid. Won't be spending much time on here anymore...just too much stuff to wade through now, and a serious timesuck.
    See ya...

It doesn't affect me much because I normally read both the New England and Mid Atlantic threads before the merge. We have family in the DC area and visited frequently in the Before Times (and will again soon!). @johphisher and his family are good friends so we interacted on both former forums. But I can see the possibility of information overload. That sometimes happens just trying to keep up with VT.

I have minor quibbles with how some of the old regions were defined anyway. Nevada lumped in with the Rocky Mountain states rather than California? Texas in South or Southwest? Etc.

So wait there's a line that you stand on or do you literally stand on top of the people forming the line?

Good to see some action on this thread, but there is an incredible amount of belly aching about this change. This is the BA hill some people want to die on???

    Matt, are you 'back'?

Based upon previous posts (which got deleted?) I thought perhaps you have moved on?

    Cheers!

@mrmattosgood we need you! Saison Saturday! Maybe we start a late night lager thread (I’m in bed by 9, however).

Jerry does tour, which is anytime he's going or coming back from out of town, so it's possible with that he makes decent money. Kramer's apartment is likely rent controlled and very cheap(like the characters in Oh Hello!, who also live in the upper west side). Even Jerry's apartment could be rent stabilized and only a little more expensive.

New Englanders trying to ruin Seinfeld by injecting realism, huh? This is going to be one roller coaster of an arranged marriage.

Perhaps it's no coincidence that the show's worst epsisode was the finale, in which they were all forced into an emergency landing in New England against their will. T'is a barren, parochial, and humorless region—as we've recently rediscovered...

And I should know: I grew up there.
