Mid-Atlantic was great for the SEPA folks - lots of good local info/discussion that was easily found. Now that’s wrecked with the forum dominated by New England breweries.

New England and Mid-Atlantic both seemed active enough on their own to justify individual/separate existence. I have no interest in all these New England breweries and am unlikely to dig down multiple pages in search of interesting local threads. I would predict SEPA discussion will decline significantly with this change and am left wondering: “why even bother having regional threads?”

Something doesn't feel right when I go to the Northeast main page and the top post is about the DC/MD/NoVA beer sceen.

Don't worry, usually the Tree House thread finds its way to top.

I will say, I still don't know where I stand on this thing, but...I have interacted with more people and posted in threads that I otherwise wouldn't have since this merger. I guess I'm just saying its not all negative from this BAers perspective.

Yeah, it's hard for me to fathom DC/MD/NoVA being in any way associated with the northeast, even if this is just a beer site.

You have to average a certain amount of snow per winter to be on the Northeast page I feel

I feel like the cumulative snow here was under a foot...maybe even 6 inches this past winter. Snowed less than a half dozen times and that's including stuff that didn't stick and mixed snow/rain. It's about to get into swamp ass season and I'm not ready for it.

But it also doesn't have anything in common with Mississippi or Florida. The new regions are just too big.

That's not really true, that's just something people retcon because Eck became a relief pitcher in later years and had issues with alcohol.

Everything has already been said but perusing the first page of the forum right now after things have had a few days to settle makes me feel like this stinks even more than I initially thought. I really just don't see any point to having brewery specific threads in a forum that covers such a large region - we might as well just put everything in Beer Talk at this point for all the difference it makes.

And very useful threads like the "Beer Shop Finds" are now pretty much useless unless we addend them with a sub-region, and if we do that we're going to need 7 different such threads so that we're not sifting through posts about the fat drop of Heady Topper 850 miles away. The 4th post on the front page is currently "New Jersey Brewery News and Releases" - are we hoping to have 7 or 8 of those too?

I guess on the plus side maybe we can start some sort of sportsbook where we place bets on whether the Other Half or Tree House thread will be higher on the page on any given day. Winners get an official Northeast Forum lawn chair to hold their place in line*.

*yes, IN line, like a normal person.

And in reading the last page, I see people took my joke about the Seinfeld premises literally thinking I'm trying to put down a NY show, when this is really my all time favorite. That must be another reason we can't merge, our senses of humor don't match up. We New Englanders rip into things we love the most, just can't help it.

For the sake of comity, can we at least all agree that New England clam chowder is vastly superior to Manhattan clam chowder?

If we are looking for common ground, let that be our bedrock.
