HI folks! New to the thread here. I read the first page and the last page (much like how I consumed shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones). Am I missing anything in between that is worth seeking out? I really enjoy a good zinger or snarky back and forth exchanges. Thanks in advance!

We all had to suffer through 7 pages so you must do the same!

Who thought CT was part of New England anyway?

If you enjoy banter between New Yorker's and the 'original' Yankees (New England folk) it is a must read.

Before you commence your reading you must first answer this question: do you prefer white or red? And this is not a wine question.

    Cheers!

True, since I wasn't watching this thread previously, but I've succumbed. Thank you sir, may I have another.

Well, the change in regions got you to participate in this thread. Is that considered "good"?

    Cheers!

P.S. This thread is approaching 300 posts. Does that mean the change 'worked'!?!

At first I wasn’t sure about this merger but after a few days I can confidently say it’s the worst thing that ever happened to the internet maybe ever. I’d heard people north of Nyc were interested in beer, but I liked it a whole lot better when I wasn’t reminded of it every time I log in.

Secondly, I liked it much better when I could just tap on the first thread without actually reading the title, just assuming it would be the Other Half thread. Now I actually have to read, and even more infuriating, scroll slightly, to find that thread. I mean what do they think I am? I’m way too busy with my fast-paced mid-atlantic life to be scrolling and reading titles all day.

I may just quit drinking beer all together after being subjected to this monstrosity.

No, since I don't think I've brought anything necessarily meaningful to the thread either.

Yes, in terms of activity, but not much else. Maybe one of, if not the most active threads going currently? Or is that a leap?

    Cheers!

... which, very likely, was the point... right?

I guess. So, active is good even if content is shit?

This thread will end up dominating others in the forum. So, was that the point? All others won't get any attention. Just this one thread and maybe a few others.

Yes. I’m sure you realize that revenue of the site is based at least in some small part (and likely a large part) on site activity, right?

Again: this takes me back to that weird assumption people must have made where they assumed (apparently) that changes were made solely to benefit their personal user experience, I guess?

Sure, but is one thread/forum going to drive that?

I'd be very curious, if/when this thread dies down, whether activity has increased or decreased pre merge and post merge of New England/Mid-Atlantic. Hopefully @Todd shares that.

Again: I'm indifferent. It really hasn't impacted my experience and I think users should be able to adapt without much effort.

DC/MD/NoVA are considered part of the Northeast megalopolis. It runs from Boston to Richmond and is home to 17% of the US population over 50 million people. That’s why they are included.

Of course not. But it’s easy to see how different, broader organization will (“I’m gonna go check out my usual threads... oh there’s something interesting in the Hill thread I wouldn’t have seen otherwise, why don’t I post there too!”).

Even if it isn’t the most compelling rationale, surely you can imagine site owners using it to help a (relatively inactive) site right?

I live in Virginia, 18 miles south of DC. I live north of parts of Delaware and Maryland. I still don't understand how Virginia, Northern Virginia in particular, has to be in the same forum as Florida.

Interesting, never heard that term, but it on Wiki so it must be true. Otherwise known as “Bos-Wash Corridor”.

This thread is one faction saying they dislike the change for specific reasons and a second faction trolling them. I can’t see what purpose this serves or that it will have any impact on whatever this new forum will become.
