Have you ever had a good "milkshake IPA" Dyan? I never have and so I'm wondering what they're supposed to taste like. Several breweries were pouring their version at the 2019 OBF, and I didn't like any of them. pFriem's was at least tolerable I suppose, but it's not a beer I'd ever want to order.

Tired Hand's supposedly makes great ones, but the couple of times I stopped by the brewery, they weren't available (by all accounts they're very popular and sell out fast).

Seems like the sort of thing GN might do well, but I have my doubts.

I think I've only had one, an Alvarado - Modern Times collab. I got talked I to it - I was abo It was really good but mainly because they added terpenes, so it was super dank. But apart from that, its a style I actively avoid. Fruit belongs in lambic, not IPA:-)

    BC, CA & MN drops

We've got tons of beer headed your way if you live in Vancouver, BC, Sacramento, the Bay Area, or Minnesota! Keep an eye out for some of your favorite GN beers in your area soon.

Shipping to KY, VA & DC

Our shipping area grew a lot this week with the addition of Kentucky, Virginia, and Washington DC to the lineup! Get your favorite beers shipped directly to your door and never miss a drop again. Download the app and get to ordering now!

Here’s what you need to know before placing your first order:

-Shipping is a flat rate per case (up to six 4packs). Shipping is $25 to KY and $30 to VA and DC. There is no minimum order amount.

-All three new areas are subject to legal limits on the amount of beer allowed to be shipped to each individual per month, so please do not exceed the limit that applies to you. Your order will be canceled and refunded if you order above the allotted number of cases in a month. New state limits are:

KY - 10 cases per month
VA - 2 cases per month
DC - 1 case per month

-All orders ship with UPS Ground. Once your order leaves our facility, it will take around five days to arrive at your address.

-Next-Day delivery is not available at this time, and we are working with our developers to clarify the language in the app as our shipping area expands.

-There is a bug in the app that autofills OR in the state field for all addresses. As long as you enter your address correctly, your order will go through just fine on our end.

-Be sure to select the Shipping option when adding items to your cart (not Delivery).

For those of you a little closer to home in Oregon, please be aware that we will continue to enforce Oregon state limits to comply with OLCC shipping rules. This means that no more than two cases of beer per month can be shipped to any given residence each month. If you order more than the two cases permitted in that timeframe, your order will be cancelled and refunded by our team.

Make sure to check out our Shipping FAQ here for more information! You can also contact us at [email protected] with specific order questions or concerns.

    Catch a Flight

March marked International Women’s Day AND Women’s History Month, and we took the opportunity to catch up with a couple inspiring women in the industry on Catch a Flight with Pauly. GN's own Uncle Pauly sat down earlier last month with Kee Nelson and Lisa Allen.

In episode 18 of CAFWP, Pauly and Kee Nelson from @keesloadedkitchen, one of Portland's most beloved food carts, chatted over a couple of beers. Kee shares the story of how she got started, her advice on continuing to hustle and succeed, and the importance of community involvement. Make sure you try Kee's cooking, it is fire!

Later in episode 19, Uncle Pauly caught up with Lisa Allen, head brewer at Heater Allen, to discuss Lisa’s journey from the world of wine into brewing, Lady Behind the Glass (our upcoming Italian Pilsner collabo), and general woman-identified badassery in the beer industry. Brush up on your lager knowledge and check out Lisa’s brews at Heater Allen.

You can tune in to these episodes of Catch a Flight with Pauly, as well as all of our past episodes, on our IGTV. We are always looking for cool folks to have a beer with, so let us know who you want us to catch a flight with next!

Catch a flight and a little sunshine if you can, and we'll see you next Friday with more Notions!

Man they have been dropping the ball on this new app update, just like they dropped the ball on the beanies in 2020 Q4. The beanies were pushed back weeks and every update kept saying "stay tuned next week for an update about the beanies" . And then they did the same thing with the app, now they've stopped mentioning it altogether.

On 12/22/2020 they sent me this message to me directly:
    "Hi there,

Our next update will go live soon, and once it does you'll be able to unlock characters, play games, and more! Keep an eye out for news next month.

    Happy holidays!

    GNB"

Then, on 1/8/2021 they included the following in their 3 notions update:

"Our next major app update is slated for release soon (hopefully in February), so you'll see more information on new features here in the newsletter shortly."

I know from personal experience that app/website work can often go over-budget and over-time, but I also know to not create expectations and set timelines that could be adjusted. IDK, I'm really not worked up over it, all they're doing is adding some games and stuff, but I have been looking forward to it.

    Upcoming Drops

    Hot Fudge Saturday
    (9% abv) $22/4pack
This imperial stout is even better than a mountain of ice cream with all the sundae fixings. Gooey chocolate, vanilla, and banana are all topped off with a drizzle of strawberry sauce. Don’t forget the spoons!

    Puffery
    (4.5% abv) $15/4pack
We’re all puffed up with pride over this delicious new lager. The second installment of the Puffery series is a Japanese-style rice lager done right. Refreshing Saaz hops and delicate rice make for a light-bodied and perfectly crushable beer. We will be donating a portion of proceeds from this beer to the Portland Asian Health & Service Center in support of their efforts improving healthcare quality for our local AAPI neighbors.

    Orange Creamsicle
    (7% abv) $20/4pack
The ice cream truck never brought you a treat quite as yummy as our Orange Creamsicle. Amarillo and Motueka hops, orange puree, vanilla, and milk sugar meet in this milkshake-style IPA for a sweet treat that brings to mind your childhood favorite.

    Patterns
    (8.2 % abv) $20/4pack
This Double IPA unveils to us new and exciting forms from the patterns within. Brewed with Riwaka hops from a family farm in New Zealand, we're excited to bring this special DIPA back for a second round.

    Afterglow
    (7% abv) $18/4pack
We're not sure if it's the rotating selection of bright hops or the crisp California Ale yeast in Afterglow, but this spin on a West Coast-style IPA keeps us feeling really good after each experience. This batch was brewed with a beautiful balance of Mosaic and Mosaic Cryo hops.

    Baked and Stuffed

Great Notion + Claim 52 = a match made in wacky craft beer heaven. We teamed up with our friends from Eugene to bring you Baked and Stuffed, the perfect intersection of GN’s pie-inspired Baked series and Claim 52’s dessert-style Stuffed beers. This over-the-top smoothie beer is a bonanza of tart raspberry, banana, marshmallow, graham cracker, and hazelnut. We maaaay have had the munchies when we dreamed up this concoction, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a banger! (5% abv) $23/4pack

This collab drops next week, and you can scope more beers from Claim 52 on their IG page!

    Hop Stash

    Munchies

Well, quite a number of people do, as they seem rather successful, having 5 locations now. Now, among the couple dozen folks who post in the NW portion of this forum, it seems as if their beers are an occasional buy, not daily drinking beer.

And, this thread tends to lean towards being a news/updates/general discussion thread as opposed to chatting up every pour, which is what the NWWBAYDN thread is for.

Kind of different for the California Brewery threads, most beer discussion in the individual brewery threads. Well except for the Cal West Coast IPA thread and the Cal Lager thread...haha!!
