What's the awesome part? He sent you the agreed upon beers in return for beers you agreed to send him?

I'm not sure what you sent, but I would have won-the-hell out of that trade. I've been practicing my "up-trading"

These kind of posts need to be saved for when someone uses you as a reference. Cool man, you had a successful trade. Really no purpose for an Awesome Trader Alert, These have gotten out of hand, Half the time there is nothing awesome about the trader.

I'm always amazed about the comments in a forum about beer trading...seriously, this was just two people making a trade and providing positive feedback in a forum about...wait for it...trading. Street cred comments, annoyance at too many "awesome trader alerts", etc...why click on a message if you're not interested in the content?

    Just my 2 cents.

If you are annoyed by the responses you got why did you resurrect both of the threads?

Glad you had a good trade and are enjoying being a new trader. But FYI, every successful trade does not need an "awesome trader alert". That is typically left for recognizing someone who went well above and beyond. You can just keep a record of successful trades on your profile and maybe add a note if you feel they were great to work with.

My .02 - The issue is not that you had a positive trading experience on BA, it's just this particular trade is not something some BA's think really needs to be posted on the general beer/help forum. The times when "awesome Ba's" threads are posted is when the BA goes way above and beyond and completely over delivers on what was initially agreed upon, or send a surprise box of awesome beer.

I've had the fortune of having almost of my trades go very smooth and each party was very happy with the haul as well as the communication. But those trades is what your profile page is for. That way if you list "Jiatlas" and write (great communication and smooth transation) after his name, that's an instant reco. Hope you continue to have great trades!

And nanobrew just gave similar advice in a more concise way...

The reason we click on a message is that we are interested in the content. The reason people aren't hiring wandering minstrels to sing your praises across the land for all eternity is that nothing awesome happened here unless there is information which had not been brought to light yet. I congratulate you on being a good trader, communicating well, and shipping what you are supposed to, but none of these actions are extraordinary. What we are trying to prevent is awesome trader inflation. I personally would be tickled pink if there were 10 new awesome trader threads a day with the stipulation being that they all include an act of awesomeness. If they don't it cheapens the awesome trader title for those that deserve it. Awesome trader threads also don't usually come in matching sets. If you have read any real awesome trader threads you will see that usually one person makes a thread, a bunch more reply with a similar experience, and ultimately the person who the thread is about has to either spell out how their awesomeness isn't as one sided as everyone is making it seem or risk being deified as a golden pillar of the trading community (a sentence that few mortals will be able to live out unless they truly have a heavenly cellar and pure intentions).

What's with all the good trader threads going on now? It used to be all bad trader threads. Has something changed on BA?

It's two different leaves from the same branch. There are tons of new traders out there right now, which leads to some bad trades, and some unnecessary "good trader" alerts.
