Dovetail (2021)

Just ordered the BA Rauchdoppelbock because that's just too interesting to pass up.

 

It has that creamy nitro quality to it, like a Guinness can. It’s not barrel forward like the Jack Daniels Vignette was, that was extremely forward on the Jack. Only spent 4 months in barrels but the smoky aspect from regular RauchDoppelbock got turned down a bit. Dovetail does make the best Rauchbiers around, hands down. Just happened to be near DT when the announcement was made the other night so why not, got some Maibock too!

 

Oh snap, same (finally)!

 

Went to dovetail again today (at last) but got to say very disappointed. Beer served way too cold for styles, almost no head on the pours, plastic cups, and portal potties. Will have to wait until post-Covid to come back to what we loved. Too bad because we love dovetail.

I'm thinking the portal pottie is a likelier consideration.

 

Sigh. It's been really disheartening to be dinged for trying to do the right thing (the systems we have in place right now is temporary)—we're fully aware it's not our normal taproom experience. We hope to continue to make improvements on the outdoor spaces—something that we've only been able to get because of COVID.

Anyway, if you prefer glassware, it is offered on the sidewalk patio, and beer is poured from our taproom system. I recommend a weekday visit (especially Mondays, when the taproom runs an Industry Day). We're getting closer to "normal," and hope to get there soon.

Hey I am still happily supporting dovetail via carry out and delivery, and will be back to visit when things are normal again. I’m not some lunatic swearing them off or something, I was just sharing my experience and figured it wouldn’t be popular.
Go ahead and call me a snob or worse. I value their craft and want it to be the best drinking experience possible, and right now that is from the can at home served at the right temperature and pour. Respect beer right?
And yes when you have a friend with mobility issues portal potties are not ideal

 

I think a lot of the jokes are because "Portal Potties" sound like an awesome time travelling device where you can jump to the future, or see dinosaurs, while you poop.

"Porta-Potties", on the other hand, are awful, no matter what your physical situation is. And I feel your friend on that front if they have additional issues.

Semantics, for sure, and we respect your friend (and you), while enjoying the humor of an innocent misspelling.

Want to make clear so there aren’t hard feelings. Wasn’t trolling or starting a crazy anti-masker dovetail boycott. Didn’t post anywhere else or change reviews anything like that. Was just giving my feedback because I thought it could be helpful. I know I would want to know. And apparently thanks to autocorrect I was also creating alternative dimensions in the toilet LOL

 

Hey there, thanks for the feedback. While the outdoor bathrooms are ADA compliant, we obviously need to do better. It was addressed in our weekly meeting this afternoon, and we're looking into how to improve that experience.

Love the BA Rauch Doppelbock, the more I drink it, the more complexity I find!

 

The texture / mouthfeel of that beer is incredible as well. Velvety smooth like a nitro pour, but no nitro was involved.
