I think to some degree, this is missing the point.

It's not a question of whether or not this is a worth while event. For supporters of the Bruery this event is fine. Perhaps in line with past Black Tuesday party's, except for the crowded one you referenced . As a stand alone event I don't think anyone has an issue with it. Bruery supporters should enjoy it.

It has more to due with those of us that decided not to take refunds for last year's Anniversary Festival. I think its fair to say, that most of us that left our money with the Bruery did so for two main reasons:
    1. We are big supporters of the Bruery. We wanted to support them when the economy was clasping. We wanted to help them survive.
    2. A raincheck on the Anniversary Festival seemed like a sure thing, if they survived, in that it a highly respected festival, even by people who are not Bruery supporters, and a near given that we and our guests would want to be there.
    So why the fuss?
    • $100 != $75, Just a math issue. Its unclear how this is a plus for those who left their money with the Bruery
    • "The Anniversary Festival" != "This year's event". Last year I couldn't get enough tickets for my friends that were interested. This year, I'm having trouble filling the seats for the tickets that I held. But I guarantee, if it was closer to the traditional anniversary festival, I would be looking for more tickets.
I think a number of us are questioning our decision to not take the refund..

    Hey, JohnInLA,

I wasn't really doing a comparison between this event and last year's cancelled party. I was commenting more on how the format of this year's Anniversary Party suits me these days versus the mega festivals of years gone by. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

And yes, if I was a ticket holder from last year (I am not, since I had made the decision to not attend from the get go) I would maybe feel that I wasn't getting the full value from my ticket. Perhaps the Bruery can somehow comp 2020 ticket holders $25 towards the next event.

In any case, I'm really looking forward to the smaller crowds, shaded seating and not standing in line for a pour or chasing down the wait staff to grab the last hors d'oeuvre.

Hope they can work out something for you guys...

I think this sums it up pretty well. I love the Bruery and whatever happens with this year’s anniversary party won’t change that. Opting not to take a refund was solely based on the fact that I wanted them to have the money and had full faith that they would come through on an event that lived up to the previous anniversary parties.

Based on what we know about this year’s anniversary party, It will surely fall short. Limiting the amount of pours and the fact that no other breweries involved kills it for me. I really don’t want a refund, but I do want a credit on my account. I hope the Bruery will at least accommodate that request.

Sorry for my delay here, we were traveling up to Portland for some hop partnerships so I’m just settling back in.

Let me try to hit all of your points here. First, I understand where you’re coming from, and The Bruery is incredibly thankful to everyone who stuck with us and supported us through 2020 and kept their tickets to the party. We would love to throw the festival we had planned, but given the current climate we are not able to. That being said, we are absolutely committed to creating an incredible experience for the 2021 event. I will try to address all of your concerns here, but definitely feel free to reach out directly as well to [email protected]

    • Unlimited pours with other partner breweries wasn’t feasible given the time it takes to plan an event of that magnitude. We have been thrown for some loops like everyone else given the pace of change of the recommendation, but we absolutely wanted to throw a celebration for our fans. We also have to plan to stay in compliance with state recommendations, which for now means a seated event, and unlimited pours aren’t an option. Our team is completely dedicated to creating an amazing beer experience though, and the incredible production team has committed to creating 10 new beers exclusively for this event. These are tiny batches of brand new beers that may or may not be seen again. They are beers we concepted and are executing just for the celebration.

    • Yes we lowered the price of the event to $75 because quite frankly, we agree with you that this event is not at the same level as last year. As a thank you to everyone who elected to keep their tickets, we sourced some really incredible cooler travel bags, valued at $35 to make up this gap. These aren’t totes, and these are included only for members who kept their tickets. We have some really fun “12th 13th anniversary” branding on there. Again we are incredibly grateful for all the support through these strange times. We also WILL be offering a $25 online credit for anyone who purchased, that was definitely missed in our communications.

    • Not sure if you’re a hoarder or not, but we are unveiling a brand new experience, in our barrel-cellar and I’m really excited about this one personally. It will definitely be memorable and intimate.

    • Overall we think this is a great value packed experience. The total before discounts would be worth about $130.

Would love to talk and get your thoughts on this. Feel free to reach out.

Once tickets go on sale, and we see the sessions start to fill up a bit more we'll be reaching out to book reservations for this.

    Thanks for the clarification, ILoveDonuts.

As I wrote in my recent post, I am really looking forward to this more relaxed, seated event - although I know that it's not what some were hoping for, especially those holding tickets from last year. It sounds like The Bruery is is putting in a great deal of effort to accommodate those folks and make them feel they're getting their money's worth. In any case, I know it will be a fantastic time.

    Thanks for all you do.

Allocations showing some of the sale beers, definitely a few things I haven't seen in awhile!

There's also some 2019 Chocolate Reign, which I'm thinking is going to make some of you punch holes in the wall...

We all saw the 2019 Reign coming, didn't we? I do not know who posted it back then, but I can remember someone calling it out and saying that despite all the complaints, it will eventually show up in some cellar release down the road. Probably would have been a good idea just to do bottle pours during the Anniversary party or special pours in the TR's.

Excited to finally try Port Sucre!

Grabbed a few of those 2018 Hoarder Cuvees too... Always felt a little overpriced but damn if I don't always come back to feeling like it's one of the best things they've done. I drank my last one late last year and it was holding up perfectly.

Damn! That beer almost caused a revolt (including a Hoarder getting kicked out for swearing at The Bruery)... I’m surprised they’d “archive sale” that one.

Nevertheless, I bought two. Want others who want some to get some.

I think I’m the minority here, reading 2 flights plus 2 full pours and thinking “dang that’s a lot of high ABV beers in one session.” Since it’s my first year I’m going to give it a chance and see how it goes. It’s also kind of nice to see a beer event, any beer event, after the last 14 months.

So I just bought my ticket, but where do I reserve my spot for the Hoarders event?

Nope, my thinking, as well. Anyone who’s been to the Tasting Room knows how generous their pours are in the flights. I don’t drink IPAs or sours so I’m usually woozy after finishing one flight.

Two flights plus two full pours is going to be a LOT of alcohol. Again grateful for the shaded seating. I’m going to need it!
