What beer are you drinking now? #3133

Alvarado Street TDH Contains No Juice DIPA. The base version of this is the first Alvarado beer I ever had, and it's varied wildly across the many, many batches I've tasted over the years. This TDH version, brewed for their 7th Anniversary, is killer, maybe the best I've ever had. Thanks, @Dimidiata, for the hook-up!

I love Nelson Sauvin hops! Creature Comforts here in GA did a Single Hop Pilsner with it a couple years ago. I WISH they would bring that back. it was outstanding. Great choice!

 

Keeping my eyes open for fresh(er) packs . . . everything on the shelves here right now has a 3/15 canning date.

 

Jai Alai

I take a week off at work which means I had seventy emails/phone calls to return. I think I am caught up now.

Another new beer for me today. With some Elliott Smith, caring over from my Heatmiser spin last night.

This review will not be a particular popular one, but here I go...

Spindeltap One Love, Double NEIPA at 8.5% ABV. No explication on why they want to do a Bob Marley design, but there you go (not that that is a bad thing )



Pours a milky, opaque yellow orange color. At first a two finger white head forms and recedes pretty quickly. Light lace left behind. I never understood why this look is desirable, but whatever.
Initial whiff is juicy fruit. Maybe some orange juice. Though it all fades to nothing pretty quickly.
Taste is a muddled sticky and sweet fruity flavor going on, and I can't really pick out any one thing. Kind of juicy, kind of citrus like. Thats about it. Some bitterness lingering about, but not strong.
A full and syrupy body. Low carbonation that becomes thick, milky, and muddled. OK to drink for a bit, but I'm looking for something else pretty quickly.

Yeah, once again, I'm not really getting NEIPA's. I haven't had one in a long time, and wanted to see if my tastes have changed (and this was given to me free so why not). For at least this offering it hasn't. Initially, I thought this was going to be a bit better, but the more I drink, the more I'm not a fan as everything is all up front and muddled, and it eventually becomes more of a chore to finish. I'm obviously in the minority on this, at least for the people that take time to review, but thems my opinion, and I"m sticking to it

Overall score is 3.33, which is barely B- for me. And actually a fairly high score for others in this style.

I haven't had a Jai Alai in a while. That's a great beer. I'm going to be in FL on vacation the week of Memorial Day, gonna have to look that one up!
