Well he's already miles ahead of Jean Broillet's response.
Unless the author only used a partial quote, this seems like a Bill Clinton type of denial - parsing words instead of the overall concept.

That's it? Given how wordy he normally is, sounds like something DID happen. No SAT worthy words or anything. But yes, almost anything is better than Jean's response. Heck if I know what this all means in the scheme of things. Maybe it's a tiny breakthrough.

    Just catching up...

Did you Pennsylvania boys make Hill close the brewery yet?

What is it exactly you were hoping would happen again?

Holy shit. This is not a picture of the Shaun I knew 10-12 years ago. I have also met and talked to Shaun's mom over the years. If any of this stuff is true, I envision a serious discussion back in the wood shed.

The wife and I are in Burlington for the weekend and went to Farmhouse Tap & Grill last night for drinks and apps before dinner at Hen of the Wood. Based on past visits to FTAG, I was fully expecting to have 2-3 Hill options on tap to pair with our oysters and cheese board. Imagine my surprise seeing none available. When I asked the first bartender if there was any Hill on tap, her response was "we're not curating their beers at the moment" and she left it at that. So I pivoted to a BBCo pale ale (as well as an Ommegang Double Barrel Dubbel and SN 2014 Bigfoot). When I pressed a little more of the second bartender, he confirmed they had pulled Hill off their taps given the recent news with no indication if/when they would go back. Looking back at Untapped, it appears the last Hill check-in was on thee 19th, so they probably got pulled a few days ago.

This thread reminds me of studies that have found that one in three men would **** if they knew they could get away with it.

To stop sexist hiring practices, sexual harassment and sexual assault, one step is to end the silence about them and start normalizing consequences.

Would love to see these "studies" and the integrity of their methods

It seems like this is the study. My experience as a doctor reading studies leads me to at least mostly agree with this analysis, as we're talking survey responses. BUT... if you read this criticism I come back to the conclusion isn't great. They would consider making a woman do "something they wouldn't want to do if they could get away with it." It's not a 5/5 universally would do (3/5 qualified as YES), and it's not "full on ****" but that's still bad! Would you answer more than a 1? I hope not!

You can project those results to almost anything. Yes people would do crazy things if there was no repercussions. What was it like in the past?

Wow, the absolute audacity of a place of business voting with their dollars in terms of the products and businesses that they work with... either due to their own moral conscience or their desire to keep up with customers’ desires so that they can continue operating and profiting.

Laughable stuff, how dare they. Not in my America.

Committed to participating in changing the beer industry . . . by casting doubt on the hundreds of stories Brienne has shared about how shitty the industry is.

Nobody expects you to be perfect, but how about trying not to be awful?

How did he cast doubt on anything other than the specific stories about himself?

I'm a one-time PA boy — whatever the eff that's supposed to mean — so I'll bite, since this is super super uncomplicated:

    1. Hill Farmstead should issue a thoughtful, positioned statement publicly, via their social media channels, so their customers and fans have a clear sense of where they stand. (No, small-time stuff by VT publications ain't gonna cut it. And right now, the silence speaks volumes.)

    2. Even if the claim is that Shaun Hill didn't do these things, let's hear what he plans to do, and what actions his brewery will take irrespective of those accusations to tackle what is clearly a very real problem in the industry overall.

    3. At an absolute bare minimum — and this is a low bar, given it requires no tangible action — acknowledge, publicly, the absolute shit situations that so many women in the beer industry have to deal with on a daily basis. It's not ok.
