Good day BAs! Rumor has it the rains may stop in the next day or two and we may see some warm and dry Texas weather, like we're having back home in PA while I'm getting wrinkled in TX. We went to Rowena to Horny Toad Brewing on Saturday (since they're only open one day a week) and brought back a couple of beers, including today's New Breakfast Beer:



Dill and salt! My sister-in-law tells me pickle beers are popular around here as pool beers.

Pineapple wheat beer, huh? As a gift it tasted okay...

 

I'm kicking off Monday with a Smuttynose Black Cherry Sour. It's a bit of a one trick pony. Just faint black cherry on the nose and slightly stronger black cherry in the taste. Nothing complex about it, but it's refreshing and Wifey has been into sours lately, so it's got that going for it.

Apripeche from Ommegang is what beer I'm drinking now. It's got sweet/tart qualities and it delivers on the promised peach and apricot. It's very good.

The two year old has invented a new game which is to throw a plastic ball into GrandPa's room then run down the hall squealing with laughter. I find it charming though it does wake up the old dog sleeping on the floor who grunts then goes back to sleep.

In my glass now is I Love Lamp from Evil Genius. It's a pineapple hefeweizen, which piqued my interest. And it hits on its advertised qualities. It's a proper hefe, with banana, clove and wheat notes. And those are backed by pineapple. It's odd, but it works. Or at least it works for me. It's BA average rating is 3.39, while I came in way over that with a 3.92 rating.
