All things Urban Roots for the year 2021.

While not beer news, I do hope they continue the new daily food specials they introduced at the end of 2020.

Better bring the Urban Roots thread back up. Big STOUT release this Saturday 2/13.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CLKSJD8JQ-U/

Only two days left until the release of Chocolate Moustache + BBA Chocolate Moustache + BBA Chocolate Moustache Rocky Road.

Can you guess what the final ice cream variant is?

BBA Chocolate Moustache Rocky Road spent 12 months in Templeton Rye barrels before being emptied and infused with toasted cacao nibs and whole vanilla beans.

We then aged it on 100 pounds of toasted walnuts (thats just over a half pound per gallon of beer). The result is otherworldly. A decadent beer that features notes of chocolate and walnuts with a marshmallow finish.

Please don’t mention anything stout related about urban roots. Once the secret gets out this won’t be the most underrated brewery out there.

I think we already spilled the beans on their great Lagers and Pilsners last year.....haha.. And the solid BBQ.....

Barrel program coming into its own for sure.

Their saisons are good as well. I have a rye saison and an apricot saison I still need to try, but the passion fruit one was real good

Definitely my favorite place to stop when passing through Sac. I like that Fieldwork is a viable back up in a pinch but I have to admit I'm bummed that the one pass through I made.this year I missed UR. Haven't had a poorly made beer there yet.

Has their distribution increased at all this year? I keep.hoping their cans will pop up around here sometime. Would love for Like Riding a Bike to be available

I don't normally need to rely on it, UR is two blocks from my office, but have been seeing their stuff showing up in some grocery stores (e.g. Nugget).

My only complaint, if you can call it that, is I want them to bring back the smoked turkey cobb salad to their menu.

Similar situation in Roseville and Rocklin with the UR distro. At several stores like Nugget and most bottle shops. Final Gravity gets them on the regular.

Well I may just have to email UR and ask if they'll send some cans up to Humboldt.

Think their stuff has made appearances up in PDX, but probably nothing regular.

Well PDX is probably a better market. We don't seem to fit into many small brewers marketing plans. Although I've been stoked that new glory has been pretty regular.

What is UR pricing like on their cans?

I'll have to pay better attention, but at Nugget i don't think I've seen a 4pk higher than $18. But Moonraker on adjacent shelve is easily $22 or more.

Urban Roots "Meeting of the Minds" West Coast DIPA. This was actually a 3 way collab with Slice and Moksa with each brewery using a different yeast, but the same hops. UR was the only West Coast. Very good.

Urban Roots (2nd location) BAWK! Fried Chicken (14th and R St) is now doing Brunch on Sat & Sun. About 50% indoor seating, but also a large outdoor tent for seating since that part of R Street is closed to traffic. https://www.bawkfriedchicken.com/ Usually 6 or 7 rotating Urban Roots beers on tap, plus wine and mixed cocktails.

UR EZPZ Pilsner. Must have Sunday Brunch crusher. Who needs Mimosas? Crisp and clean.

Urban Roots did a "COLD IPA" in the Wayfinder (Portland) style. Fermented warm with lager yeast, dry hopped during fermentation then chilled and lagered for a few weeks.

Mosaic and Simcoe come out like a modern/hybrid West Coast. But pretty crisp/Clean on finish. Solid beer. Would drink again for sure.

Pretty nice Oak fermented Lager series over at Urban Roots. Real good. Some care was taken in making this, little nuances from the oak.

    Mellowwood: Maibock Lager - 7%

Third Hiatus - DIPA. Nelson, Galaxy and Motueka hops. I get mostly Nelson fruit up front, also the diesel finish. Solid.
