Looks like it comes as a 12 pack of bottles. (4 of each). I’ve heard more than one BA member complain about not getting fresh Pivo. “featuring three brewery classics that embody the journey of Firestone Walker. Learn more about our new mixed pack featuring Union Jack IPA, Pivo Pils and DBA.” https://www.firestonebeer.com/introducing-the-25th-anniversary-pack/
If I could just get fresh DBA on the East Coast - that would be fantastic. I don't see much FW at all anymore - occasional Luponic Distortion and then of course Parabola and the other boxed beers, and some of the cork and caged wild beers, here and there. I feel like FW makes a lot of good stuff but never really figured out how to get the speed to market / velocity to keep beers in date. Shame too because they make some great stuff.
I just had some Union Jack tonight. It’s good beer. The classic (throwback? Redesigned?) label makes it even better. Something about the Zodiac-designed ransom note artwork they’re using annoys me to no end. I just hope I can snag some of these while they’re fresh. I’ve posted elsewhere about my experience with FW beers that were already two months old before being packaged, and I wasn’t alone in that.
I'll buy it if it hits my shelves fresh. But that still doesn't address my Pivo desires. Still have my fingers crossed it becomes available from the website via direct shipping.
This pack is somewhat appealing to me, in that 2 out of the 3 beers are not IPAs. However DBA and Union Jack are easily found pretty much everywhere, the only real draw to me would be (hopefully) fresh Pivo. I was hoping maybe that since it's an anniversary pack that they'd bring back Pale Ale/Pale31 as one of the beers, but oh well, can't have everything. I'll probably still pick a pack up, as a salute to the brewery that got me started drinking good beer.
I will pick it up for the Pivo. Maybe it's not as good as I remember so I can move on emotionally. I was never a fan of DBA but it has been years and I can always keep some of the bottles in storage to drink over time.
Saw it today for the first time, and purchased. No dating on the exterior packaging, but labeled "Pivo Exclusive Release". Having my first Pivo now, so tasty! But one gripe, the Pivo was bottled 4/20/21...and its the most recent one of the three. WTF FW (and distributors), I'd have never expected everything to be over a month old as soon as it hits retail. This is a bit odd (and disappointing), as it's not unusual to be able to find Union Jack in my area less than 2 weeks from canning.
That’s disappointing but not surprising. Given my experience with the FW mix packs, one month and change out from bottling isn’t too bad. I purchased a pack with beer that had been bottled something like two months prior to the packaged date! Any FW logistics people here? Let’s sort this out!
The DBA should be fine. Quit your grumbling. I looked in my grocery and the FW variety pack is at least one generation older so I may not pick this up which is fine.
Ya, unfortunately fw seems to have never figured out distro. A month is as fresh as I'll ever see anything from them. It makes no sense
Crest, their distributor, is complete garbage. I would buy a lot more of their beer if they actually pulled out of code product and got us fresher than a month old beer.
FW is starting to drop off my radar. They were one of my favorite breweries, but many of my favorite box beers don't seem to be released anymore and distribution has always been a challenge, especially with COVID the last year. Sure, you can find their six packs of stuff, but it's basic IPAs and other crap that I can find from any brewery. Hopefully, this will change in the next year or so and may be a trip to Paso Robles will cure me. It's like they have focused on SoCal and forgot about the Bay Area.
Pretty much the same for me. I even took some time to look for this mixed pack today to no avail. I really don't understand why such an established brewer struggles with distro so much but it definitely feels like my marker is one they aren't interested in
Instagram post today for their anniversary pack. They clearly know what the people want. There’s no reason they couldn’t put pivo out fresh if they wanted. They are consistently voted a top 10 brewery in the world by multiple publications.
I just found the Anniversary 12 packs in central Md this week (4 months from bottling date). For only $16.99 and chance to taste Pivo again, was easily worth it. I’m a big fan of DBA and UJ as well. What is the deal with Firestone distribution? It’s been a problem mentioned since I started participating on the forums in 2010.
