The Bruery (2021)

I think the Small Batch boxes were meant to scratch that itch for the past three years... So will be interesting to see what takes their place. Supposedly there are 15 HS exclusives this year: https://www.thebruery.com/pages/society-hoarders

Still BT, Vanilla Villain, Liberty Stoutwich, BBA braggot, pecan pie Ani, BTGR all tagged as HS only.

 

I think many of us, myself included, saw the two bottles for mixed and figured we’d at least have the option to buy one more. Ah well.

 

Donut box and Grey Monday ‘21 (welcome back!) ordered! Also birnesnap. Excited for these.

Yep! I was surprised. Went to grab donuts and saw everything was up. Not complaining.

 

That's true. There are a lot of HS exclusives this year. But we get Still BT, we both get Portified (different, I get it, but similar in that we get to see what a still BT tastes like). I still love my membership and plan to be in it for the long haul. Just hoping that I can still find a beer where I get amped and make some of my beer friend jealous. Haha!

 

Very odd approach, IMHO. I guess I can understand incentivizing those to get Mixed. I honestly did not catch that when it was time to sign up for the renewal. Cannot say I'm a fan, but since there are half a dozen other banana stouts in the SoCal market right now, I guess I'm not overly upset. Maybe we can get a little pour at the anniversary party for HS pre-party?

 

Would love to see that someday! Maybe you can work out a deal with The Bruery and release a coffee table book ha.

 

FWIW I've been jealous of everyone talking about Vanilla Villain.

I assumed this, as well. Hoping they have some good stuff in the tasting room.

Also curious to find out more about the special 30 min Hoarders sessions.

 

Did I miss something or 2econd is only allocated, nothing extra for purchase? And yeah, why does it make more sense to give an extra to the mixed pick instead of Bruery pick? oh well.

 

Definitely not the CRe debacle of 2019, but definitely a misfire IMHO. like you said...oh well...

 

Again, I think they had to up the value of the mixed offering. It's a numbers game.

Agreed. Annoying but not a hill im gonna die on. I would like to revisit the full pour part of the Anniversary Party and say that's a bit misleading how it was presented and I think there should be some special stuff in the taproom for the full pour. Hell I was asking about special stuff being in the taproom for after the party lol I mean come on it's not only an Anniversary Party but it's a celebrating 2 years worth.

 

For sure. I'm not going to make it a big deal, just felt odd is all.

 

I know I'm a bit of an outlier here, but one bottle of 2econd is enough for me. I'm fine with the allocation, as a "Bruery only" member.

 

There are a few aspects of the anniversary party that feel like a bait and switch. Granted some of it was due to assumptions on our part due to the high bar of past anniversary parties and the vagueness of the communication., but none the less, clearer communication on this would have been welcomed. .
