    The Horror The Horror

    Stopped at Target after getting out early today. SN mix packs went up 20% so I no longer have access to cheap SN. I grabbed this instead for $7.99. I enjoy the non hazy wolf pup, this though is horrible. Chalky strange taste. It’s best by 8 August. No work Saturday so beers for me tonight.

    So my wife has been cooking Sourbraten (sure the spelling is off for that) and I thought this would go well with it.
    I may never know. Once poured, I didn’t want to stop sipping. This is really good stuff!

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5

    Deep copper hued body; steadily rising carbonation; thin yet persistent head, creamy. Initial warm grain smell; a bit fruity, cherries. Weak toasted grain presence; creeping phenol action ending with a bold, almost harsh bitterness initially that smooths out as the beer warms; underlying fruit-like quality to the taste. Medium body; rich and full; semi-sweet mouthfeel.

    I'm not sure what to make of a 'Kviek Vienna "Lager"' beer description as listed on the can. I can't find any description online or on the can. The beer has a lager smoothness going for it, and I suppose it's the kviek yeast strain used that gives me that sense of fruitiness. It's not bad for what it is.

    Poured at 54° F; no dating or canning information found.

    Summer gave us a preview today, hot and humid. 1st beer on the deck, then into the air I go. Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat. An oldie, but a goody.

    I hope I see that here in Texas. Stone is not always fresh but sometimes available at my Total Wine and at room temperature.

    Finishing off the stash I muled back from Florida a couple of weeks ago, this collab from two world-class breweries is fantastic, IMHO. Absolutely love it on a gorgeous evening in Northern Indiana.

    Embarrassed to admit it but the Richmond, Virginia Stone brewery is about 10 miles from my house. Been there just twice.
