Phase Three Brewing (2021)

I had it on tap this past Sunday, and have no way of telling if it differs from a bottled version. The rye barrel notes were a great touch, and the beer definitely did not lack real vanilla flavor or body. That being said, it was a good offering, but nothing really stood out to me.

I know we've all had a plethora of BA vanilla stouts and there isn't much complexity in them, but I was hoping this was going to make it's way into VR or Handjee territory - it just didn't make it that far for me.

Thanks for the honest review. It’s getting lots of hype. Do they normally announce on social media if/when they would tap special stuff like that? I follow them in FB and don’t remember seeing anything about it.

 

They are garbage about Facebook. Set an alert on Untappd, then Instagram. That is their social media update order.

Are you referring to the ones that were released alongside BA Pressed? IIRC those were aged in third-use barrels that had been used to age the Pressed, so the whiskey notes were muted in comparison to beans aged in second-use barrels that are still dripping with whiskey....

Whatever, I didn't want to drive all the way to Lake Zurich anyway, especially for a beer that doesn't even have any cake or candy in it.

 

Making the drive was my deterrent too. For various reasons at this point in time. But yeah, just French press some HoHo's into that bitch.

 

With VSOJ coming out I really wanted to see how this compared. Bummer for me.

 

I feel like if I look up this phrase in Urban Dictionary, I’m going to learn something I’ll spend my entire life trying to unlearn.
