I’m glad I wasn’t the only one reading this thinking it was the beginning of a murder mystery special. “The one who got away”

Creative writing is in no way my forte, but I was trying to suggest that feeling.

I just knew he was going to have drugged the Blue Moon, but luckily not.
    Great story.

You win the thread. I’ll give you a trophy, even — how about we meet at this great little Honduran restaurant in Toronto for me to bestow it upon you?

Sure. I’ll send you a list of my preferred beer styles so that you can plan your jacket beer accordingly.

One thing to add about my weird trade experience is that the guy added lots of pretty decent reviews to the site. Every beer he ticked was reviewed, and the descriptions he provided are useful for others. In an idiosyncratic twist, he would provide a food pairing comment to end each review. These would range from common things like chicken wings and roasts, to sheep’s head and obscure ethnic organ meat dishes. Unfortunately, it looks like he hasn’t visited the site in years.

I think ppl go through phases of reviewing. It’s fun, but also can be time consuming. I try to add a review whenever possible.

Sounds like a beer drinker. I have a cooler in my trunk myself. I suppose the whole trunk is next level, but yeah sounds like an interesting character. My only qualm is why Blue Moon?

You can’t get ‘Blue Moon’ up here. It is sold as Belgian Moon because of a complaint from Labatt over the similarity to their iconic ‘Blue.’ Ive heard people claim it tastes different. I think he said something like ‘I brought this back from the States’ when he pulled it out. That choice of beers though was one of the things that made the whole experience a little weird.

Haha, that’s funny. I think the Blue Moon would definitely throw me off. Imo, it tastes like sunscreen.

Some detectives you are. @Coronaeus is actually the Toronto Trunk Strangler (TTS). He wasn’t the one that was offered the trunk, he was the one offering the trunk. This is how @Coronaeus gets to relive his most exciting moments without anyone knowing.

So, I have a story a bit similar, but I am the one that packed wierd.

When I first got into trading, I ended up doing a large volume pretty quick. I was also traveling, so I was unloading 2-4 cases of beer at every hotel on and off for a few months (wasn’t gone straight). I was also shipping and receiving while away. So, anyway. I had a trade set up for a WB Coffee Cake. When the guy was slow to ship I asked what was up, and he said his last package (one of his first 3 trades) got broken in transit. So, he used my bottles (that were to go to me) to replace in his other trade.

    Uh, Wtf?

Then he said he would try to get some for me…ok.

In the end, everything arrived safe in a wine shipper. It was good.

So, then I had to ship. Well, that box was the last of 4-5 boxes I had shipped out that week, and I was running low on materials, and because of getting ready to leave hotel and other variables, I NEEDED to get the box out. So, not only was I low on packing materials, but the only box I had was too big. So, I ended up cannibalizing anything I could for packing. This meant other cardboard, paper bags, and…NAPKINS (not used, the nice ones). I sent him a message after he said it arrived safe and sound, explaining. Sure enough, he wondered, because it was pretty bizarre. I was just so newish (phone tried to change that to Jewish) to trading at the time, with only 10-12 trades, that I was so worried I would get bad feedback for needing to delay to ship. Since then, I just let people know I need a few days, and try not to overload myself with trades.

Back in 2014 I almost got duped by the infamous Iowa university TA who was re-waxing bottles of KBBS and Assassin.

I was offering him DB Huna and a 2014 BA Mexican Cake set for a KBBS 2014. When I asked him to maybe throw in a glass or something, he just responded: “no.”

I trusted my gut and stopped communications based on his dickish response. Some others didn’t get so lucky unfortunately.

I, um, think UPS just topped anything I've ever experienced personally. I'm fuming right now. Probably should start a separate thread. I've always been sort of anti-UPS, but I'm full fledged extremist now.

Should start a new thread for other reasons, but good to have it here. These assholes are getting out of hand.

Look, if you want to destroy my package because it's illegal to ship, fine. I'm grumpy, but fine. But now you want to just take it, drink everything, and act like you're the sheriff? No bueno. You're an asshole who thinks he's above getting caught since what you're doing is not kosher. That's just unbelievable.

How long was the box in transit? Guessing there was a delay? Would you provide which Hubs it most likely went through so we can try to avoid?

And of course, sorry that straight up sucks!

That's the crazy thing, there was no delay. Shipped 10/4 received an hour ago. Lickety split to pull this kind of shit.

    I've started a thread here.
