    Coming to you after listening to the five hour set of Blues Before Sunrise. Reruns for the past few months, I hope Steve Cushing who has hosted the show since 1980 is doing OK and future newer shows are on the horizon.

    This is a cross post with New Beer Sunday #849 linked here. I poured 8 oz of a 5 1/2 year old barleywine from a local brewer among my favorites.

    Long story short, this barleywine has mellowed, great aroma, slightly oxidized but overall a nice balanced and flavorful taste (my bad, 1-2 years is a good rule of thumb for aging barleywines). Capped the rest for either later today or tomorrow.

    Speaking of aging, thank you @micada for the tip regarding Nemesis, I will have the next after 1 1/2 years, than the 2 year sweet spot, and the final 2 1/2 years out, for "science". I never had a Pelican beer, including the highly touted Mother Of All Storms, though I do recall high praise including from the beloved @scream .

    Going to kick off the musical portion of my post with two from WXRT's 1973 set from yesterday. Wishing you a pleasant, nice and easy Sunday to end your weekend.

Today marks the 77th anniversary of D-Day, a brief description......During World War II (1939-1945), the Battle of Normandy, which lasted from June 1944 to August 1944, resulted in the Allied liberation of Western Europe from **** Germany’s control. Codenamed Operation Overlord, the battle began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, when some 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region. The invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning.

    On the 77th Anniversary of D(isembarkation) Day, it seemed appropriate to start the day with a dry Framboise from Une Année (Niles, Illinois). I think it remains hard for those of us alive today to comprehend the courage of the men who landed on the beaches of Normandy that day, but absolutely compulsory for all us to appreciate their sacrifices:

    Just in from a warm sunny paddle with the pup'ster.....such a nice weather weekend....going to grill up some Impossible burgers and make tater salad for lunch....and some beer of course

    Have a few leftover "Xmas Pickle" beers - damn tasty on a warm day!
