Actually had this yesterday evening but didn't get around to posting. Bruery Terreux Oude Tart w/ Huckleberries. Good beer.
Appearance: Cloudy dark brown color with purple undertones. The beer has a medium-sized beige head that dissipated fairly quickly. An interesting looking wild ale.

Smell: Tart berry notes and mild tobacco aromas. The berry notes are very prominent in the nose.

Taste: Tart berries, mild tobacco, mild leather, and very faint oak notes. The berries are present all the way through the finish resulting in a mildly sweet finish.

Mouth-feel: Body is on the lighter side of medium-bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. nothing to change here.

Overall: Oude Tart continues to be one of my favorite sours regardless of style. while I feel some of the more subtle characteristics of the base Oude Tart get buried to some degree by the fruit additions, all of the fruited variants I've had add a unique spin to the base Oude Tart.

    Aroma
Aroma is fresh cut grass , hay, malts, hint of hop spice

    Taste
Taste is malt , grassy, hint of hop peppery spice , earthiness in the finish . Flavorful and light

    Mouthfeel
Mouthfeel is clean, crisp, light, refreshing on a hot day , session-able, enjoyable

    Overall
Excellent representation for this Czech Pils style of beer . Repeatable and recommended

Some beers don't belong in the Top 250 - but they sure are fun to drink. This is one of them: Southern Delight Praline Amber from Coastal Empire Brewing Co. in Savannah (one of my favorite places in the world!). I received in from @Roguer in the NBS BIF #13. Andrew had nice things to say about it and I agree. First, I really like pecans (perhaps a nod to my southern heritage). You can really taste them in this beer - along with vanilla. The base ale is perfectly acceptable. This is a great beer to drink on a 90+° Sunday afternoon.

Poured into a pilsener glass. It pours a hazy, ruddy brown color akin to iced tea. The thin, creamy, ecru-colored head dissipated slowly. The nose is heavy and pecan and vanilla, which gives it a sweeter smell than typical for the style. Quite unusual. The taste truly follows the nose. The predominate flavor is vanilla but the pecans are also evident. They are nicely roasted. The base ale is solid with notes of nutty char and a hint of spice at the finish. It's well-bodied and carbonated and it drinks very easily at 5.2% ABV. With the 12 oz. can format you can easily down several in a session. And you won't be disappointed. I like the idea of this beer and it's well-executed. A nice change of pace. Enjoy it for what it is!

I spent the day on the road yesterday, visiting with my son and celebrating our shared birthday. It's really nice being able to get together with people again.

Today I'm just relaxing at home and finishing up the last of this year's planting, so something special seems to be in order.

Recently @FBarber surprised me with a pretty crazy box of mostly smoked beers. And speaking of crazy, look at what was also in there:
    Dovetail Flanders Rauch

Yes, a smoked Flanders red; my two favorite styles combined. :astonished::sunglasses::+1:

And it works beyond even my wildest dreams. Simply a stunning creation.

Reason #1- the smoke is really quite subtle both on the nose and on the palate. It really only shows itself on the finish. But what is there plays really nicely with the rest of the beer.

Reason #2- the base beer is out of this world; simultaneously full of boldness and finesse. The palate is rich and rounded, which serves to perfectly support a bracing vinegar-like tartness. Think of fresh super-ripe berries with a drizzle of the best Balsemic available, a phenomenal yin/yang dynamic happening.

The base flavor is vinous with generous hits of oak, cherry, vanilla (cream soda, even?), dry sherry, nuts, and that lovely accent of campfire smoke. Everything is well-woven and complementary.

It's a crazy idea pulled off with grace and panache, but aside from even that, it's simply a delicious beer. Outstanding A+ (4.8).

Thanks again Frank, this was incredibly special!

Of all the local beers I have sent during my ~4 years down here, that one hands down finds its way into my fridge most frequently. I agree with your rating, as I don't have it sky high either, but it just hits a spot with me that I love going back to - especially at the very modest ABV.

Good afternoon / early evening, Weekenders! This next beer was a happy accident, as I bought a six pack of Enjoy By without hesitation (duh), without realizing that this 07/04/21 iteration was actually new to me!

Stone Enjoy By Tangerine and Pineapple IIPA

At the risk of sounding presumptuous: if you know what Enjoy By is like, then you probably know what Enjoy By tastes like ... with tangerine and pineapple.

For some reason, Half Baked is coming to mind. ("Ever had Enjoy By .... on WEEEEED?)

It's surprisingly hazy, given that it's not advertised anywhere on the can. Even the "Unfiltered" Enjoy By was much clearer. I'm blaming the fruit conditioning.

As expected, the fruit cuts into the bitterness a bit, imparting a bit of sweetness and a little more "natural" fruit flavor (as opposed to fruit-like flavor from hops). It all blends together very, very well. It's still bitter, just not abrasively enamel-stripping. It's still herbal, but I'm missing the mild to moderate dankness I normally get from Enjoy By - but then, that could be a function of age.

Drinks super easy for the ABV, much easier than regular Enjoy By, while still finishing dry and astringent.

For me, this is a damn fantastic IIPA, but the added fruit doesn't make it "better," exactly - but for some people, that could easily be reversed, with the fruit making it a bit more accessible. I find I miss the extra level of bitterness, and the fruit makes it just a touch less hoppily complex.

Phone's being jumpy, and BA won't let me edit my above, so let's try this again...

    Hey, all,

It's 58° and cloudy in the Republik of Spokanistan. Earlier in the week it was sunny and unseasonably hot for late spring around here, with several 90+° days that I was psychologically unprepared for, but I have to admit, it was beautiful when I spent the better part of Friday over in Coeur d'Alene. My folks had camped for the better part of the week in Glacier Park and were staying in a camp ground near Wolf Lodge Bay, so I met up with them Friday afternoon. Of course, the phone connection that morning was garbage when they were in mountains near Kalispel and so they misunderstood me when I asked when they'd meet up with me and so I wound up driving over to Idaho several hours early. I made up the time by grabbing a quick bite at the Crown & Thistle, where I finally had a beer from Alesong (Peche) and I grabbed a quick pint of a coffee scotch ale at the satellite pub of Jeremiah Johnson Brewing. After driving along the lake a bit and walking around the shops of the touristy part of CDA along Sherman Ave, we wound up going to the Crown & Thistle (again, for me), where Inhad a dinner of curry Bangers & Mash (delicious), washed down with a Bodhizafa. My Dad even got into the spirit and drank a Laughing Dog Pils instead of wine (Mom couldn't cross that bridge; a lifelong hater of beer, she went the chardonnay route). Then, they went back to their campground and I drove back to Spokane and went to an art show at my buddy Mark's workplace, where I had my first SN Pale in years and drank my first "hard seltzer" ever (meh).

Yesterday was a make & mend day at home, and i had no beer. Today, I hit a couple beers from @JayORear and his dwindling supply of NBS BIF #13 beers from (mostly) eastern PA.

    Started with this around noon:
Pretty nice double hazy, but I somehow got it into my head that it was a big stout, so I'd pushed it back in my fridge. I suspect I cheated myself out of an even better beer by not drinking it fresh.

Now I'm finishing off this one:
Really nice oak aged blueberry wild ale. Had to get past a bottlecap and a cork, but very tasty stuff.

Not sure if I'll drink anything else new today. Have a great week, y'all!

Mrs O and I lived in Minnesota (Mankato) for 18 years, and our son still lives in MSP, so our affinity for all things Minnesota is strong.

Receiving two cases of uber fresh ZD approximately 8 years ago from a beer nerd friend who lives 10 minutes from the brewery is still a “Top 10” beer nerd moment.

And not one of those 48 bottles was 6.5% ABV.

    Time for some IPA goodness.

Aslin Beer Co. - Laser Raptors Double India Pale Ale

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Beaming rich, and frothy full thick fist sized forming head out of the can. Off white, slightly yellow tinged with super fine bubbles and a big clingy molded top. Body color even manages to be opaque, but staying away from a sludgy mess, deep yellow and glowing pale orange, with an exceptional glow like a bright but warm light bulb. Excellent looking beer.

Gorgeous hop angle. Large amounts of minty and herbal hop flavors, ranging from simple mint, to earthy lemon grass, and pungent pine to dank like soil. Very pleasurable, and let's the simple neutral malts and yeast stay out of the way. There's even a floral like candy note in this which is real enticing.

Palate manages to stay grounded. While not as spectacular a good simple backbone paves the way. Juice forward, and a more fruity and tropical footprint is evident. Tangerine juiced, with a faint hit of zesty oils, mixing with a real grass aroma. Finish is a great drying earthy flavor, almost smokey with hints of dank hop and bitter mint flavors.

Could use a little more depth, but it's light body makes it even easier to drink ironically. Great IPA.

Pours a nicely hazy golden straw color with a sudsy off-white head. The nose is some resiny pine, lemon, grapefruit, and mango. Very nice.

The lemon is actually forward on the taste, with loads of mango, and a deliciously bitter finish with the resiny pine. The mouthfeel is on the softer side per the style.

This checks all the hazy boxes, and has the heft you expect from a DIPA. TG has definitely joined the hazy side of the juicy hop world.
