I reckoned that it was aboot time to give some deserved recognition to our local brewers on BA.(Done before?)

Meet Eric Magnuson from Mountain Hops in Casper.

He's the fella on the left. He has shown me that he can brew consistently good beers of various styles; Porters, Stouts, Brown Ales, IPAs, APAs, even a Light beer. And then there are the experimental. July 1st will be his first anniversary!

Show me some of your brewers that do you proud, please.

I may be checking out a local this weekend -- and for sure one at month's end. I'll see if they want some exposure.

Great thread idea, and a fantastic way to profile the folks behind the scenes.

Great idea! Brewers who aren't currently a member here may be signing up to see their pic and the pics of others in their 'fraternity '. Continued interaction in the forums by them may be the long term result. I'll have to go get some pics.

I don't think I'm permitted to copy a pic from Facebook and bring it here, but those of you who use FB can go to Handmap Brewing's page and see a pic of 'Christmas Larry' grilling burgers and hotdogs last Saturday. (He wears many hats other than his brewing hat.)

Back to this -- I had the opportunity to finally visit a local I hadn't set foot in. Only Child Brewing in Gurnee, IL. They have a nice, industrial-like taproom attached to the brewery and self-distribute (I believe) their cans and kegs.

No one was working the brewery on a Saturday, but I snapped some promo pics for this thread.

I enjoyed a nice Red Rye IPA on a quiet afternoon. Wanted to try their Vienna Lager, but they'd run out -- a good sign, I hope. Sampled a Heller Doppelbock that was too smooth at 7.7%, but couldn't give it a real assessment for style.

C'mon -- we need more people to join in this thread!

    @Jaycase @FBarber -- let's see some more Illinois locations.

I'm hoping to hit Roaring Table at the end of the month.

The photo I posted was from FB. Using my Android, I long fingered it and an option to download it was listed. I *think* that's how I did it.

No. I clicked on the pic and then had the option of saving to phone by long fingering it . Yeah, I just tried that again.

Somehow, I missed this thread when it started. DEFINITELY a great idea @Bitterbill.

@Todd , Is it copasetic to clip pictures from FB or other non-original content, for use in this thread? If so, I can quickly spread some love. If not, we’ll... I will just have to buckle down and do my part. ;-)

Maybe reward my efforts with some fresh crowlers too.

C'mon people -- let's not let this thread fade!

I know there are members visiting local breweries -- gotta be, right? You got a smart phone, it has a camera -- snap away!

Great thread idea, and hopefully I can bring something to it later this summer.

You good BAs wanting minutely updates on this thread are going to have to practice a bit of patience (how many of us were at a brewery in the middle of a work day midweek?). We should envision this thread playing the long game, yes?

I'll be watching it henceforth however long it goes.

Meet Ty Martinez from Skull Tree Brewing. I've known him for many years as the brewer at Wyoming State Brewing. Aka Wonder Bar. If you're ever traveling to/through Casper, stop by, say hello, and have a beer!

First off, this thread is more than a week old -- my own post was from last weekend -- I'm sure others have been checking out locals last and this weekend, so we aren't expecting weekday partiers to cater just to us.

However... and secondly, I've been seeing some posts in other, local threads, by members checking out brewery openings here and there -- so join up with this one!

As you point out, this is a great thread idea -- but without participation it's going to get lost in the BA traffic. I forgot about it myself and had to go searching for it.

Love to see some more pics!

    A week old?

The "What Whiskey Are You Drinking Know" thread is up to 49 pages long at about a year and half old, and I think it's got the foundation to last as long as the Alstrom Bros. keep it up. Or a few of our livers give out, whichever comes first.

I see now this particular thread is over a week old, so that's my bad for missing that part. Glancing through the thread, I saw somebody screaming for participation on a Wednesday and thought "Wednesday? Don't you fools gotta work?" :stuck_out_tongue::laughing::stuck_out_tongue:

We want the same thing ultimately, so everybody hit the WATCH THREAD button at the top of the thread above post No. 1, duck in here at least a time or two every week, like all the posts and reply to the ones you think are worth replying to. If the WWAYDK thread can last almost two years, this thread should be able to last until the next ice age hits ... or dinosaurs reclaim the planet ... or whatever takes down BA.com.

    Cheers!
