Was this ever an option? That aside, per the current FAQs page:

Rewards are only redeemable onsite at our Brewpub or Taproom.

It has ALWAYS been an option to purchase Deep Wood beers with your rewards, and yes, rewards are only redeemable onsite. But - let me clarify...

    -Pre-COVID:
As I got through the line at the special releases and got to the register, they would apply any Rev Rewards to my purchase.

    -COVID times:
You could call in an order when the taproom is open (after 12pm) and they would look up your rewards, and they would apply those rewards to the order, and then you could pick it up curbside. For limited releases, you are taking a chance that the beer will no longer be available by the time someone is available on the phone.

Yea, this is how I remember them doing it ... but I had no idea this was an option:
For this release though ... no way I am waiting until noon.

Spending half my day shuffling one inch at a time next to drunk dudes ripping cigarettes & farting isn't such a great time for me. I've never understood the "standing in line, getting drunk during the day" aspect of this hobby, but I realize many people enjoy it.

In fact, after experiencing the ease and convenience of the timed pickups, I think for the most part I wouldn't pick these up anymore if I had to wait in line. There ARE exceptions to that, and, perhaps ironically*, VSOJ is one of the exceptions.

*like Alanis, I don't really know what this word means.

For my Deep Wood "lists" the past 2 years, I have included the summer releases in with the following fall season of releases. With a 6 month hiatus, it seemed smart to break it up that way.

However, now we had Cuvee in April (3 month hiatus) and 3 releases in July, so I suppose we should have a separate "2021 Spring/Summer" release list.

Agreed with this. I stood in line once for nillerzzzzz 2019. I have never wasted so much time doing nothing, but being away from my family. From then on out if I have to wait in a beer line I’m out.

I’ll be missing out on 2021 nillerzzzzz as they’ve gone back to the prepandemic line up night before wait.

the ability to buy beer and just pick it up even for special releases has just been awesome.

I can see both sides of the argument. I actually enjoy going with a couple buddies and popping some bottles to share with the people around me. As long as it’s nice weather and not Cuvée/X year weather I’m good

Yea, I'm with you on this. With a young family, I just dont have the time or bandwith to be waiting in line for beer. So long as I can buy stuff online and pick it up, I am in. But if they go back to lines, I will just pick up whatever I can after the fact.

Hey all - The Point of Sale system that our Brewpub & Taproom use is thankfully linked together so that you can earn and use rewards at either location. However, that same system would be very problematic if we ran high traffic barrel-aged releases like V.S.O.J. on it. Therefore orders on the website are better optimized to handle the traffic, but isn't integrated to comprehend your Rev Rewards information. This is one thing we loved about the in-person releases of old, from an retail/operational/accounting standpoint, having those go through our traditional system is a big help so that everything data/technology-wise is seamless. For these Summer releases, we're going to continue using the website since we know it generally can stand up to the traffic (fingers crossed). Too early to say what we'll do in October.

I typically don't comment on certain questions you have this early, only because it's nice on our end to maintain the flexibility to change our minds on something as we listen to feedback, including from this forum. We always have a game plan, but like to let it simmer and occasionally make a tweak or two that we feel will be for the greater good. I think you'll all generally be happy with what we have in mind and find it fair given the constraints we have to work with.

The T-Shirt & Glass are fire.

Ugh. I keep telling myself no more glassware. Ever. It's a lie I continue to cope with regularly.

    From a non-local's perspective.....

In the past I've been trading or going $ & Label for most Deep Woods releases since before they were caning. With the transitions to proxies, my latest calculations have me spending well over $200+ than I was averaging per Deep Woods release, because of ease of the current system. The increase was mainly on the readily available stuff, like SJ and Ryeway (I bought at least 4 packs of RW this release). Thus putting at LEAST $200+ more into the pockets of Rev.

On the other hand, if I were a local, a local that spends money at the brew pub on meals and taps, etc, I would want a fair shot a the VSOJ ring. Granted, some folks might have enough rewards points to not worry about it. But still, makes total sense for a local to get upset and disappointed for being shut out.

At the end of the day, I've been up to my eyeballs in Ryeway and SJ, so either way, I'm stoked at whatever Rev decided to do!

I don’t think the wife will say no to a harmless t-shirt though lol

I’m up to my eyes in glassware and find myself continually using the same few so I think I’m good on more glass. I say this, and then I’ll see the new glass and *HAVE* to have it so we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it

I'll make sure to wear it when I show her the Glencairn glasses I bought from Side Project yesterday. Sometimes it's hard being a failure...

Sun Crusher is tasting great this year. Not sure if something changed or if it's just me, but I'm really liking it more than in the past.

Back to your regularly scheduled Deep Woods talk.

To me, it’s very hoppy this year which I really like (I admit I can’t remember exactly what I thought in other years)

No, no...let's keep this going. I've got to get me some Sun Crusher!
I thought DDH West Coast Hero was very good - clear and refreshing just like the description.
I had a Rev Pils yesterday that was great (especially in this hot/humid weather).
Can someone tell me about their experience with Lucia?
