Greetings Sunday advocates, another fine sunny and warming morning in these parts.

Got some errands done as soon as the supermarket opened and got myself St Bernardus Prior 8. 1,85€ is a no brainer as opposed to Corona for over 2€.

Aside from that, we have the “in-laws” coming over this afternoon for cider and some pastry here. I’ve got to explain a few things to my GFs mother about feeding my fishes while we are gone on vacation the next weekend.

    Cheers!

I’ve said this before but I enjoy basically every musical genre, from hip-hop to metal, pop, rock or country. Anything but I’ve been more in the mood for some “sweet” and light hearted metal these days. Sonata Artica does it for me:

Good morning BA. Workout is complete and it’s time for the dreaded laundry. Starting off with one of my absolute favs. Boulevard’s Rye on Rye-perfect sipper while watching the rain storms blow through.

    Enjoy your day everyone!

Good Morning America! Cross post with New Beer Sunday 851 / Weekend 47! This is a heavy ABV that drank very easy, too easy. I'm going to crash for a bit before resuming the day.

Really liked your song today @Shanex ! Never heard of that band before, but loved how the song built up. Always look forward to clicking play on your songs, especially European imports.

    2nd Shift Liquid Spiritual Delight

Full review linked here. Long story short, let this warm to get wonderful complexity, coffee is excellent, nice chocolate fudge and vanilla backing, like the malt profile, creamy rich and decadent. This is my second 2nd Shift Brewing beer (the other a Pilsner), and both are 4.5+ beers. Don't sleep on their beers.

I slept through Saturday Morning Flashback, and after reviewing their set list, I am glad I did. A rare miss in terms of their overall selections for 1994-1995.

Here are the only two solid songs of the three hour set lot.

The third Garbage tune I heard this weekend, it's been too long.

See you back with something more low key later today.

Starting off with some Tree House coffee (House Blend) on ice and con leche. These guys know to make coffee. I regret not buying more than the one four pack that I did.

And now some Tree House Free To Roam (Oak-Conditioned Helles), from the can. These go down so easily.

Good day BAs! Thanks, @Shanex, for starting today's thread! How about a picture of the fishes? Inquiring turtles want to know! Well, we had some rain overnight - the street was wet except under the maples and oaks. I may get my zucchini planted (FINALLY!) today - it's essentially a weed and'll produce fruit within a week or two. My peppers and tomatoes have blossoms and will probably be ready to pick when we're in Iceland - my neighbors and son usually reap the fruits (sic) of my labors! Today's New Breakfast Beer is one I brought back from TX:

I sucked down a LOT of these on my resent TX visit - Damn good! Rating 4.2, rDev 0%. Cross-post with NBW/NBS.

    Cross post from NBW:

I picked today’s new to me beer up at the brewery last month in Asheville, NC - “Dark Age”, a BBA Imperial Stout by Wicked Weed Brewing:

At 54 degrees pours black with grayish/ruby edges; quick dark tan head recedes quickly leaving a small island of micro dots and a thin plus ring; some spotted lacing and thin legs upon agitation. Strong bourbon nose up front, followed by sweet prunes; chocolate as beer warms. Bourbon forward entry, then sweet caramel, chocolate and dark stone fruit; bourbon and oak middle; prunes and chocolate covered cherries middle; bittersweet dark chocolate and bourbon in aftertaste. Medium full body; moderate minus carbonation; medium warmth in mouth from 12.3% abv; smooth, almost silky mouthfeel; not adjuncty; slight phenolic bite; dry barrel finish. Overall outstanding; the barrel notes are well balanced with base; bourbon is front and center; a tad thin for abv, which makes this beer dangerously easy drinking, and I personally like the subtle booziness; well done!

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Clear, light gold colored body; coarse yet gently rising carbonation; decent head, white and foamy. Very pleasant nose; light cereal grain quality; cracker; mild herbal scent. Well-balanced flavors; lightly toasted grain and bread crust; mild hop bitterness presence; general herbal hop taste. Light to medium body; crisp; mild warmth throughout; generally warm mouthfeel.

This is an exquisite lager, mild in character yet full of simple, honest flavors. It is beautifully balanced and nuanced.

Poured at 54° F; bottom of can dating info: 033121

...I'm a bit jazzed (@eppCOS bad pun intended) to have pre-ordered the three vinyl disc Rhino reissue of the complete Mingus at Carnegie Hall concert...

    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4

Fine, golden hued body; nice head on the initial pour, thick and frothy. Very mild malt aroma; esters dominate the smell, comprised mostly of berry and tropical fruit notes. Nice, balanced IPA flavors; mild biscuit with a nice complementary hop bitterness. Medium to heavy body; smooth and velvety; fine all-around warmth throughout; dry finish.

A solid, no BS American IPA, nicely balanced plus an exceptional mouthfeel.

    Poured at 63 F; bottled 01JUN21
