This beer first appeared in 2012 as Secessionist #2 (Although the brewer's notes on the label say it's their 3rd release). Whether this was the actual name at that time, I don't know, but now the "Secessionist" nomenclature is part of the notes on the side of the label "Defying archaic brewing guidelines, our ales are cathedrals to unlikely elements. Aggressive and boundary-pushing, each Secessionist is a revolutionary act of sedition against traditional recipes." Ahhh - OK. It's OK to dream. Rating (On original listing from 2012) 3.2, rDev -12.3%.

 

Good morning BAs! It’s coffee time - FBS:



Bottled 4/14/21. Poured at 56°. Fresh bitter roast coffee/bittersweet dark chocolate. Big thunderstorms here last night, more forecast for the next week or longer. Our rainy season has finally arrived! Later today I take Mrs. Z for her 3 month, post surgery CT scan and labs at Moffitt in Tampa. Won’t get results for a few days…fingers crossed. Cheers y’all!

I was planning on some alcohol free weeks. The time around my vaccinations seemed a good timing to me. Had my first covid vaccination this morning.

Has anyone gotten some document for international travel after being vaccinated by the way? Europe is working on a mobile app for this. But that will take some time I believe.

In the background latest beer haul; a six-pack Warsteiner Alcoholfrei.

Just one today. Great Notion Baked, a tart ale with blueberry, marionberry, boysenberry, hazelnut, cinnamon and vanilla. If that seems like a lot going on in a beer, it is. I mean, it's tasty, but man is there a lot going on with this one. The berries are a bit muddled together, but the cinnamon & vanilla come through very strong.

Got a sweet 6 mile run in this morning. Low humidity and upper 70s temps.
I like Lupulin beers. Not all, but most. Brewery is about an hour from my Stube. This pale is great and very simple. It's called Scars Pale Ale. Unfortunately it is retired. That was quick!?! Can is dated 4/21/21 so it's fairly fresh, very smooth, drinkable and has a light resinous finish. The mouth feel is similar to Fat Tire amber ale. Would be a good year round pale.
