Good morning BAs! I let this morning’s beer warm up on the counter for 1 hour before pouring (I think my big fridge is set too cold)…Funky Buddha’s “Void Shaker” an imperial stout aged in High West barrels:



Best By date 4 Mar 23. Poured at 56°. Strong oak/barrel flavor/linger and little else; disappointing verging on meh…working on notes for the NBW thread. Another grey rainy morning here; I think I’ll stay in today. Cheers and have a safe Saturday y’all!

 

Beer #2 from my HOD box. Wood comes through consistently but gently. Complexity all over this aged bottle.

Pretty decent stout, a little on the thin side, but with just the right amount of habaneros for my taste - rating 3.86, rDev -1%.

Perennial Sump with some Euro 2020 on now to start a day of many sports options.

 

From an IP trade last May with one of my Charleston SC buddies - Charlestowne Fermentory’s “Double Radio Burst” 24 month barrel-aged in Jimmy Red Bourbon Barrels:



I believe this beer was bottled in April or May of 2020. Poured at 52°. My chillers are set at 54°, and so much easier to pull a beer and drink at/near cellar temp! This is an awesome beer - chocolate fudge, bittersweet dark chocolate, dark fruit and bourbon. Excellent balance between base and barrel. Working on my notes (and a slight morning buzz ). Cheers y’all!

 

This is Dragon's Milk 2021 Reserve 2. I will review it on New Beer Weekend. Unless we are back to New Beer Sunday.

"Authentic underdog" is how we Jersey peeps see ourselves, so appropriate for Junteenth Day.
Here are my new beers I'm enjoying this weekend.

Aviator’s Club | Forgotten Boardwalk | Wild IPA | 7% | NJ

Added by Act25. 1st review. Dreamy Saison/Wild IPA combination, inspired by the risks associated with early Aviators, which were addressed by better planes being built in NJ.
a) Creamy, head that lasts with suitably rising fine bubbles ringing steadily in the tulip.
s) Apricot, yeast, saison citrus.
t) Better than Pure Yay! the latest Wild IPA from Carton (NJ), more apricot and orchard fruit, with cider like notes.
f) Tingly, yet creamy, refreshing, drinks like a Saison.
o) The sum is greater than the parts, - wonderful tribute to Aviators everywhere.

a) pale saison as expected.
s) aromatic, herbs, grass, spice cabinet.
t) follows with a pleasant honey/ orchard feel and back drop.
f) Bright and spritely.

Added by Act 25, 1st review. A solid four.
a) Attractive creamsicle orange body haze pour with smushy, lasting head.
s) Too faint but hops peak through with tangerine, pine, and orange crush.
t) Follows smell, cleans up nicely without being OJ or creamsicle, pine and bitter ending.
f) Creamy, dreamy.
o) Solid, fresh local orange & pine creamsicle, dreamy IPA packed with feel and flavor.
