Hoping to hit Hill Farmstead on thursday then Burlington for the afternoon. we're looking to find a place with a nice view of Champlain for good beers and ideally a good meal.

looks like Foam is the best option but they seem to just have snacky foods. tap list not as important as the view and food. any suggestions? thanks.

Hen of The Wood is pretty awesome food and beerwise.

Despite Burlington overlooking the lake, I'm hard pressed to think of a spot with good food and beers. The best food in Burlington hands down is Hen of the Wood, and you definitely need reservations, but there is no water view. Juniper Bar at Hotel Vermont right next door has an outdoor terrace with lake views, good food, and a decent tap list.

Splash at the Boathouse is literally on a dock on the lake so you're absolutely not gonna find a better view than that. It's kind of a touristy spot and the food isn't anywhere near Hen of the Wood, but if you want the view that's where you'll get it.

Got a few good beer options too FWIW.

Foam has a nice patio facing the lake. I can't remember how much of the water you can see.

Foam has a restaurant right next to the taproom - Deep City. Highly recommend it.

Deep City is what you are seeking. I think you can still make a reservation online to sit outside and its right across the street from the waterfront with amazing views. The menu is small, but the food is really solid. They usually have a couple bottle offerings from Freak Folk and House of Fermentology.

Oakledge Park in Burlington is also on the waterfront and they allow open containers. It is right down the street from Zero Gravity and Switchback. I recommend grabbing a couple beers and heading over there if the weather is nice. Plenty of rocky outcrops with privacy on the water where you can catch a buzz and a the unset.

Hen of the Wood is ridiculously good. My wife and I didn't even have dinner there, just apps and oysters. The Parker House Rolls are religious, and the cocktails are incredible. Highly recommended.

thanks for all the great suggestions! one of the many reasons i love this site.

we ended up bagging Hill Farmstead as they only had two can offerings. hit Black Back for lunch. Susan on tap (one of the two HF can offerings) and Maine Dinner. had both before so settled on a Mo'Rilla for myself. shopping across the street at CBC. always a good source for River Roost (which i hit on the way up a week earlier).

headed down to Lawsons for a brew on their patio and snagged a fire pit on the way for late night sessions upon return to our home base in Willsboro NY. did the drive back through the Camels Hump notch as this was my buddies' first time in VT. bumped up 116N for some nice valleys views and rolled into Burlington about 4:30.

we had kinda decided on the Hotel Vermont so parked near there and took a walk down to the lake to kill some time before their opening at 5. noticed the Burlington Bay Market & Cafe had beer, a great view and outdoor deck. tap list was mostly macro but they did have Fiddlehead IPA my friends had never tried (unfortunately just released in PA). got some great fries and soaked it in. not so fancy but fit the bill. looking forward to another visit later in the fall hopefully to include HOTW.

Rather than start a new thread I figured I’d piggyback this one.

Looking for a spot to kill some time and grab a beer or two within walking distance of downtown Burlington with the dog on Saturday evening while the wife goes out to eat with friends.

Not sure if Foam allows dogs, but I’ll look into that.

Any suggestions that are dog friendly ?

You kinda have to grab the seats on the right side of the patio (preferably the bar seats facing the lake) to really see the water. Was able to sit there at sunset and it was really nice.

Not sure about foam, think they still allow well behaved dogs on the patio, same with Burlington bay. Burlington’s parks and beaches allow open containers( no glass) so you can always grab some cans and sit on the rocks overlooking the lake

Zero Gravity allows leashed dogs on the patio. Depending on your starting spot, it's about a 20-25 minute walk from downtown straight down Pine St.

ALWAYS check ahead for hours. Went to Deep City and they didn't open until later on.
