MiniBrew | Brew & tap fresh craft beer at home | MiniBrew

I saw this in an ad this morning and was intrigued (and not). One the one hand, it's a pretty easy way to keg - the beer never touches oxygen. It would be pretty cool to bust out 2-3 kegs at a party. Also, it self cleans, and seems pretty well thought out.

However, it all seems very mechanical and takes the art out of brewing (I can't really call what I do art, but you get the idea). Also, each batch is just 5.5 liters. It would be a pain to order 1/4 the amount of grains, for example.

    What do y'all think?

I'll leave it for you to decide.

I can make you a piano player in one day. You'll be playing the piano. Really. It will cost you US$500. And you'll regret it later but you will be a piano player. Trust me.

Consensus around here is these contraptions are for people who like the idea of brewing but don't really feel like brewing. The Kickstarter community is littered with these things. This forum has plenty of threads describing our general distrust if not disgust. Some of the conversations have been very entertaining.

I'll add that unless you are brewing on the moon your beer is coming in contact with oxygen.

    Cheers

I took a look at the MiniBrew website and didn't see much (anything?) to reassure me that something good comes out. Here is a pretty thorough review of the brewing process:
    https://www.lindhcraftbeer.com/2019/10/the-minibrew-first-brewsession-and-review/
Lindh seems to be a serious brewer. He normally blogs in Swedish, so I wasn't able to sift through followup blogs for reviews of the beers produced.

Thanks for the link, the review is great.

Even if I had the money, I think I would pass (with three kegs it's about 2000 bucks). It just seems like making coffee rather than making beer.

I wondered about something, and the article confirms it - everything is so proprietary that if the company goes out of business you are screwed.

    Thanks for all the input.

No neckbeards either. Maybe that was their failure? Brewzilla features a neckbeard and they are still in business. Coincidence?

I recall the thread when the Brewie was first sold. Some lunatic said "Brewie? sounds like a handjob from a brewer". Still makes me laugh out loud.

The guy on the far right has no name/title. He looks more unenthusiastic than the rest (if that's possible), so maybe he was/is the CFO.....
