Thanks to everyone for their help with the Scotch BA beer hunt, the results were very successful. I got another hunt ready to go, got a friend coming to visit and they love belgians, specifically dubbels. While Westmalle and other ones from belgian will be awaiting his arrival, he was hopeful our local breweries might make some, but I cannot think of ANY. Anyone got a dubbel they can think of OR a dubbel from elsewhere that is rarer that they have seen on shelves around Chicagoland? Thanks in advance, cheers and happy hunting!
Imperial Oak and Noon Whistle have had them on tap in the past with the ability to get crowlers to go. Looks like they both have one on draft right now. Although Noon Whistle's that they're listing as a Dubbel, doesn't seem like it is very traditional based on the description. https://untappd.com/b/noon-whistle-brewing-escape-wheel/4089551 https://untappd.com/b/imperial-oak-brewing-admiral-ackbeer-it-s-a-trapp-ist/788347 Could be a long shot, but it's possible there's some dusty bottles of Goose Island Pere Jacques out there.
They'd have to be old now ... As for local ones ... Damn I am stumped. I can't think of one readily available. I know Scorched earth used to have one - Saint Monty - but no idea if its still around.
Sketchbook in Skokie and Evanston both have the Back Alley Belgian Double currently available in 4-pk 16 oz cans. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/37907/169408/?ba=shigg85
