What is the biggest problem, the biggest headache you encounter as a craft beer drinker? Do you find it difficult discovering new beers, finding your favorites? Do you get annoyed with the high cost of rare brews? Or is there something else that you think is a big problem for the craft beer industry?

Let's discuss and brainstorm some possible solutions together.

    ? .... Explain.

Oh, wait - I got one.

Crowded noisy bar, weekend night, half-way home and figured I'd stop in for one quick beer. One spot at the bar, but on the opposite side of the dozen or so tap handles.

Yell to bartender: "Uh, yeah - what craft beers do you have on tap?"
"Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light, Yuengling Lager ---"
"No, no - what craft beers do you have on tap?"
"Those are our draft beers on tap!"
    (which is kinda redundant but...)

This technique didn't work any better than my other method (which many took as a some kind of snarky comment).
"Uh, what's on tap? And can you repeat the list from the bottom up?"

Packaged on/best before dates. It seems like every other food or beverage product on the market has a date code for when it was packaged or when it expires, but some breweries still can't figure out how to put a date on a bottle or can.

Too much old beer on my beer retailers shelves.

Yesterday when I was grocery shopping I thought about picking up a sixpack of an IPA. I picked up 3-4 sixpacks and placed all of them back on the shelf since none of them were fresh. In another 7-10 days my homebrewed Ekuanot IPA will be ready for consumption. I suppose I will drink non-IPA beers for the next week or so.

    Cheers!

P.S. Good things come to those who wait!

Calories. I surf, mountain bike and stay fairly active overall. However, due to the carbs and calories it’s a battle to avoid gaining weight. I like to have more than a beer so sometimes I can drink like 1,000 calories in a day.

Way too many breweries have nothing but some sort of IPAs available. In stores and at the actual breweries. And now, to make things even worse, several Hard Seltzers. I get it that those are popular, but how about a little diversity?!

Agreed. That would be in the low end. I would venture to guess depending on what you’re drinking that number could approach 3000 if we’re talking 5-7 pints in a sitting. That’s why, as @zid said, it is necessary to cut back in one form or another, which I have recently found to be a difficult thing to do as well. Even though I work outside and spend 8-12 hours a day moving in one form or another, if I come home and succumb to the urge to have a couple each night, I will still gain. I have found the only way to be successful is to abstain Monday-Friday (or whatever your workweek is) and then imbibe wholeheartedly on the weekends. May not be the healthiest option, but it helps me maintain my weight anyways. Cheers!

Too many IPAs. Not enough variety. Need more stouts, porters, lagers, bocks, pilsners, etc. I get more excited when I see something new that isn't an IPA.

    Redundancy on the shelves.
Super pricey « local craft ».
Unavailable beers, or again super steep via trading or online purchase.

Finding a beer that I really enjoy; I know in today's market it won't exist in a month.

In the AMA (Ask Me Anything) thread with Jamil Zainasheff he taught me a craft beer industry acronym which was new to me: SBDL which stands for Same Beer Different Label. So it is possible you might find the beer you like in the future but with a different beer label. I suppose the trick is to obtain the 'code' from the brewery?

    Cheers!

My biggest challenge is I homebrew and always have at least one beer on tap. It’s easy to say I’ll just have a half pour, then it’s 10 half pours later. It’s a work in process. Cheers
