I’m headed to Denver and then driving out to Crested Butte for a week. I’m hoping to pick up some local beers to take with me to CB.

I’ve been to Denver a number of times so I know the breweries fairly well. I like Staion 26, Cerebral, Fiction, WW, Outer Range haze. But I’m thinking more like a liquor or grocery store that has a good selection of craft brews so I can get a variety and don’t have to worry about them being open (arriving on a Monday).

    I appreciate any info!

I have found Mollys on 44th to have a great selection and right off the 70. Know some locals aren't fans but I like them.

Thanks for the recommendation! I looked at their site and they have some good stuff - Juicy Bits, Juicy Banger and a couple from Trve. Also Avery Majaraja, which I know is common there, but they don’t seem to sell it in PA anymore. Right off 70 on the way too.

I'd add Mr B's - particularly the downtown location

Could also hit up Small Batch - they're just off 70 on Tennyson - and bonus you can also grab some crowlers from Call to Arms just down the block if yr getting there after 3 on Monday.

Molly’s and Applejack are both a minute off of 70 and are massive; Molly’s carries more beers than Applejack from what I recall. I’m not a fan of either, as they’re liquor superstores, but they are convenient and have a very large selection.
It’s been a few years since I was in CB, but remember a fairly good liquor store in the same parking lot as Clark’s Market. Clarks probably sells beer now that the laws have changed.

So this may sound crazy, but on the south side Davidsons seems to have dialed back their inventory, Lukas and total wine leave a guy wanting. Bevys in Parker, used to be parker Payless, has a new beer buyer that is knocking out of the park. Last time I was in there were fresh cans from cerebral, outer range, new image, westbound and down, TRVE, weldwerks and some others that I recognized but are slipping my mind. It's my new stop in light of the other stores being lackluster down here.

Joy Wine and Spirits had a pretty decent selection when I went recently. They had Weldwerks, Outer Range, Knotted Root, Uhl’s, Westbound and TRVE. Some other good stuff too.

Thanks for all of the great info you guys! How about Foss Company in Golden? Based upon my morning arrival and drive time I should be there around when they open. It looks like a short detour off my drive to CB and from their website it looks like they have a great selection.

Also @dauss from reading over the Colorado IPA thread it sounds like you have some affiliation with Comrade. I’ve never managed to make it to the brewery. Do any of the distributors above carry Comrade beers?

Foss is a great shop. The beer section is smaller than the other suggestions in this thread, but you should be able to find the latest from a couple of the breweries you note (WW and Outer Range) as well as Knotted Root, Westbound & Down, New Image, and TRVE, which others mentioned. They do seem to actively add new beers to their Untappd account, so you can see what's been added to the shelves recently.

If you have your heart set on Fiction and Cerebral, Mile High Wine Cellars (15400 W 64th Ave, Arvada) should have them as well as everything at Foss. It isn't too far north of Golden and is probably the same time commitment as Foss in terms of getting there and back from I-70.

Is Foss still a crazy ass trading post since they moved?

Comrade beers are mostly draft only. Craft Alley is the only place that carries our Crowlers.

Don't forget about the breweries in Crested Butte. I haven't been to CB since Irwin Brewing opened but The Eldo was tasty enough when I was there last.

Thanks for this! I am going to be floating between Centennial/Aurora/Parker next weekend for a wedding/friends and wanted to find something accessible.

I'm driving straight from the airport to Centennial, where I'm spending Friday evening. Any suggestions there or should I just make the jaunt down to Parker because it's still the best option?

Cast and Craft in the Highlands is pretty incredible for their selection and for allowing you to get singles of any 4 pack they bring in. They're my go-to. Still don't really understand why so many bottle shops in Denver don't let you buy single cans.

If you're coming down e470 (toll road) you can jump off at parker rd and head south 3 lights to Bevys. If you're coming down 225 it's a bit more out of the way. As far as south side metro area liquor stores go, it's the best right now. Molly's, Davidson, total wine, Lukas all pale in comparison right now. I will say total wine has been putting out random drops of Fremont BA beers so there that. I nabbed 2x B5k three weeks ago and their last rusty nail last week.

Thanks again to everyone for the info on beer stores. I ended up going to Mile High Wine in Arvada and they didn’t disappoint. Great selection including most of the Colorado breweries that I was hoping for. Had a fun trip with lots of great hiking and tasty brews afterward.

Before I start a new thread...what are the best stores in Denver for buying single cans/bottles? Argonaut is the best store near me as far as selection goes but not much is broken down to buy singles.

Mr. B's in downtown was also amazing. I bought Pliny the Elder there.
