Sure, but then they go on to talk about lagers (inferring all) being light and thin, but Ales are dark and heavy (never mind that whole flavor comment ).

Using "Lager" in comparison to Pilsner just isn't right. Maybe Pilsner compared to Helles, or Dortmunder, or Euro Pale I'd accept, but "Lager" is such a wide umbrella.

Hey, they got all of us to click on it. Isn't that the real goal of internet publishers? :smirk:

But, did you click on any of the advertiser links? Oh, saw-ree.

Me, I was looking for a comments section. Coincidence?

Actually, it's all @steveh fault. I would have never clicked on it, but he posted the link on here. :joy:

But I'm not going to shoot the messenger.

Like I said, no love given to advertisers is their loss. :sunglasses:

Besides, how could I let such an atrocious pile of misinfo go unnoticed by BA?

But can't they do both? Provide accurate information while we click?

    Cheers!

This whole thread is one reason beer nerds often get pigeon holed as beer snobs. When in fact it is the poorly researched, ill informed and sloppy internet article of the moment that gets it all wrong and is deserving of our condescension.

I try to tell non beer people who ask me beer questions the actual correct answer, and if it goes against some bullshite you read on-line, that's not on me. Why'd you ask me in the first place?

The whole point of calling this place BeerAdvocate is to advocate for our beer. Articles like these are still too frequent and we can pile on if we like. There is plenty of good information readily available. This junk is nothing more than a bunch of poorly researched links, a day's work and a $300 commision. Crap. Just crap. Go write about the Kardashians and leave beer alone.

That quote said there is no difference and then immediately afterwards said one is a unique and specific type of the other. To me, that's a contradiction. People are complaining that the author is getting beer stuff wrong. I don't expect everybody who writes an article about beer to be a beer expert. BUT, when someone contradicts themselves like that, it has nothing to do with a lack of understanding about the subject. It's a lack of understanding about writing... and I think it's fair to criticize the author on that level.

Maybe next they’ll cover the age old question...
    What’s better, Ale or Stout?

I'm a little tea pot short and Porter just doesn't work. My apologies for saying that.

Maybe a link of this thread to them will save a lot of time.
