Takeout from a very good local Mexican restaurant. I just wish I had a few Coronas to go with it.

A relatively tame Dogfish Head… Pilsner. Blue Hen Pilsner, brewed with Delaware grown and malted barley according to the marketing
    [IMG]

It’s pretty tasty with a dry grass/grainy note, nice bitterness, with a little edge of damp to the grain.

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup: (Correctly matched 2 out of the 3 pairs in the blind test)

    1) Dos Equis Lager (4.2%): A dry Meixcan lager with flavors of pale malts, bread spice, and yeast. Smooth and balanced.
    versus
    2) Guinness Harp Lager (4.5%): An Irish lager with flavors of pale malts, yeast, and potato. Dry and yeasty.

    3) Fulton’s Lonely Blonde (4.8%): A blonde ale from Minnesota with flavors of lemon/orange citrus, wheat, with a sweet finish.
    versus
    4) Bent Paddle’s Classic Cream (5.0%): A cream ale from Minnesota that has smooth flavors of cream, bread malt, vanilla, and honey.

    5) Lagunitas Stereohopic V1 (7.2%): This is the Volume One IPA brewed with Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin hops to give it an earthy & resinous stonefruit and lychee flavor.
    versus
    6) Lagunitas Stereohopic V2 IPA (7.2%): An IPA from California brewed with Elixir and loral hops that has strong citrus, orange, blood orange, and dank tropical fruit flavors.
(Mismatched these two in the blind taste test)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Dos Equis Lager:
This one is probably my favorite Mexican lager. Nice light hop balanced by yeast. Flavorful, but smooth and drinkable.

    4) Bent Paddle Classic Cream: This one has gotten better since I've started drinking it. Used to drink bland with minimal flavor, but now the cream, vanilla, and malt flavors shine. Maybe the have improved the recipe on this.

    5) Lagunitas Stereohopic V1: Difficult to call and winner here. I mismatched these two blind they were quite similar. Both have the characteristic Lagunitas yeast profile. I think the Nelson Sauvin hops win this one for me.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you have a favorite Mexican lager?
Have you tried Bent Paddle Classic Cream?
Which Lagunitas Stereohopic do you prefer, V1 or V2?

Good evening, advocates. Was hanging out with my buddy Jesse earlier, who likes Busch Light. Listen, if I come to your house to drink beer, I don't need my IPAs. I will drink whatever you have on hand. Going to enjoy this Glasswork from Saint Boniface, which I've been on record as saying is their best beer -- by far. The gf grabbed me a roast pork from Tommy DiNic's today. Good lawwwd, now that's a sandwich worthy of a congregation assembly. Amen, Hunter. Much love.

Hmmm, tried a 7 month old Jess - another beer from my neighbor, it was horrible, drain pour. The only drinkable beers were the Springdale IPA's, I drain poured all of the others. Now I'm drinking a Hippie Chick to clean my palate ..

Today was Breedlove day, nice guitar. Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides and a mahogany neck. Very warm and articulate sounding guitar.

True story: I actually had a beer industry rep tell me that Coleman Terroir Experience was homage to one of the brewer's dogs (and he was serious). Sir, I'm not sure that word is what you think it means. Haha. I let it go, but man was I laughing out loud in my head. Peace...

Those huge leaves in the background? Silphium terebinthanaceum
If it had no other redeeming feature, just the fun of saying the name would make it worthwhile. :heavymetal::grin:
In a month or so,[I hope] it will have an 8-10' flower spike, topped with a cluster of 2" yellow daisy flowers.
Saw it at Cornell Trial Gardens in 2012, with co-workers & the friendly competition. On a BA-like Oooohhhh!!!-Ahhhh!!! meter, the reactions were from 4.5 - 5.0. Got ahold of some seed, & started them in 2013. First bloom was in '16 (& it's still thriving in a big mixed pot at work, 8 years later:+1:.) The plants pictured were from those seeds produced, that dropped onto the gravel, emerging in July '17. Transplanted these 2 , shortly after moving here , in July '19. Hoping for flowers this year. :+1:

Midwest BAs, here's your fellow Illinoisan , Tony,[now in Oakland,CA] with some thoughts on that wonder.
